A pervert at heart is a pervert at heart ... and no doubt the potential opportunist.

This is an important point. Since every sexually aware human being on Earth has the potential for "perverted" behavior and the idea that someone who has feelings you may find abhorrant is somehow different from you is just a denial coping mechnism to shield oneself from the admission of ones own particular abhorrant feelings. I think all should realize how dangrous the above additude is.

Do you think everyone is aware of their perversions, or that maybe some of them are undiscovered and won't emerge until the opportunity to practice them arises, or they're written up in Cosmo?

I agree that the standard should remain on "who is victimized" rather than how impure, unnatural, or horrifying the desire being satisfied is--once you start making rules about what desires are legal, you can be sure that lots of desires will suddenly become "illegal" as competing politicians play "holier-than-thou". There's too much of that already.
