Ed Rob Menard's FOTL Claims

@Carll68

I think you are vastly overestimating the difficulty of getting some stock photos and setting up a Word Press blog. Literally anyone who can use a computer at a basic level can do it.

Also, all evidence points to the conclusion that all of Menard's previous ventures have been rather spectacular failures. He self-promotes furiously, collects what revenue he can, doesn't actually deliver anything other than the promotional material, then abandons the scheme and moves on to the next promotion. It's a pattern that we've seen repeated over and over.

However, this time is somewhat different, but only because he has upped the ante in terms of the money he is trying to collect and because the scheme is overtly criminal.

I also don't believe that he has ever profited significantly from his activities. If you follow his forum posts over the years, you can see that he has been, by his own admission, mostly homeless and typically relies on couch-surfing and favours from friends and roommates. I don't think anything has really changed, but we don't have any way to actually check that.

Nor does he likely have a great deal of followers. All of his seminars lately have been in tiny venues literally in the middle of nowhere. This hall in Whitby is a step up, but it is still really insignificant.

In any event, I'm sure we can all agree that he is a lying sack of **** and really needs to stop wrecking people's lives with his lies.

Nice way to avoid the crux of my post, present unrelated video to show dress, and somehow try to paint me as some sort of "bad guy" giving menard compliments.
The crux of your post seemed to indicate that Rob was a successful entrepreneaur who just dressed down to his audience of many followers and supporters.
The video showed Rob in his own time just annoying people in a park, he was technically "off duty" from his seminards and this is I believe how he always dresses as he has no choice (hes skint)

No insult intended , it does seem to me that although you admit Robert talks nonsense you do have some admiration for his attempts at scamming people.

Where he should receive credit is for what he has accomplished regarding his following and scammed income generated.

]A 19th century basis for Menard's thoughts

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchist_individualism

Individualist anarchism refers to several traditions of thought within the anarchist movement that emphasize the individual and his or her will over external determinants such as groups, society, traditions, and ideological systems.[1][2] Individualist anarchism is not a single philosophy but refers to a group of individualistic philosophies that sometimes are in conflict. From there it expanded through Europe and the United States. Benjamin R. Tucker, a famous 19th century individualist anarchist, held that "if the individual has the right to govern himself, all external government is tyranny."[3]

If?
Thats a pretty weak individual anarchist, he isn't even sure if he has the right.

Also the fact that if there was an external government it would mean the individual couldn't govern himself due to the existence of the government being a governing body.

I don't really have time to read two years worth of posts. For my benefit, and the benefit of anyone else who may come along and be interested and also not have time to get through two years worth of posts, can someone explain to me what is the point of FOTL? I just don't understand it. I read through the first few pages but it feels like everyone here has already spent years understanding and dealing with these claims, and I can't even begin to grasp the mindframe that set it up. Why would people believe something provably untrue?

More to the point, what is it that they are believing? That the whole force of statutory law would disappear if they refuse to believe in it? That common law stopped evolving after the 19th century? Or that living in society somehow does not provide consent to society's rules?

Howdy Nightstar

Very briefly: They are either nuts or visionaries of a new anarchy where everyone gets to do what they feel like doing - while feeding from the government teat

JB, D'rok and many others will have a more detailed explanation

Basically we are governed in two ways: through consent (contracts etc) and through force (police, legal system etc).

FOTLers seem to believe that if they withhold consent to be governed then the government won't go after them with force.

Rational Wiki has an article: Freeman on the land.

From the introduction:
Rational Wiki said:
Freeman on the land, also known as FMOTL, FOTL, Footle or simply freeman, is a form of pseudolegal woo in various English-speaking countries. Freemen believe they can opt out of being governed, and that what normal people understand to be "laws" are merely a form of "contract" that applies only if people consent to it.

Freemen hold that we are all subject to a massive international legal conspiracy perpetrated for the profit of the elites, but you can hack the system if you just use the right form of words. They believe only in their version of natural law, which they call "common law." In practical terms, they believe this means they do not have to pay taxes, debts, mortgages, etc. because we were all deceived and if you say the right form of words this fact will be accepted.

Freemen believe they can declare themselves independent of government jurisdiction using the concept of "lawful rebellion": that all statute law is contractual and therefore only applicable if an individual consents to it. They assert that what everyone else regards as "the law" doesn't apply to them as they have not consented to a contract with the state, even going so far as to claim they have a lawful right to refuse arrest if they do not consent. They insist that the government is a corporation, are obsessed with maritime law, and call themselves things like "John of the family Smith." Essentially, they're hilarious and somewhat less threatening sovereign citizens.

There's a lot more to the article. Read and enjoy!

The point is that they don't like the way society and the law work, and rather than trying to change them have simply decided to say that they don't work that way.

It's rebelling without the need for actually doing anything.

In a nutshell, "I dont have to follow your rules but you have to follow mine".

Oh and I have just reported Menards ACCP site to the web hosts as a possible scam site.

E-mail from Tracey at ACCP

I'm no longer apart of ACCP. I do not feel Rob is professional enough to run such a business and I also do not agree with the way he wants to run ACCP. Conman, yes, perhaps he is. I am leaving before I find out for myself if that is true. Figured you would LOVE to know this.

Well I never.

Well I never.

We have video suggesting that last word should be "often". $4.99 / minute, major credit cards accepted.

The only question is who trained all of the wombats -- and who is in charge of washing the jell-o pudding out of their fur...

Sad that Menard has hurt yet another person in his quest for conman gold
