Right Wing declares war on Right Wing Watch

Basically you are watching silly videos from the fringe of the fringe and concluding that it constitutes "the right wing."

Why would you watch these things anyway.

Ohhh, these videos make me so mad!

Yes. It would seem most of the right wing is indeed fringe nowadays.

Many of the people they cover are rather far-right fringe wackos. The problem is that a good portion of them far-right fringe wackos who get to make up laws that everyone else has to live by.

Well of course they are.

To you.

Not only to me, no. Right Wing Watch does a marvelous job of demonstrating that a large part of the GOP is fit for the loony bin.

There's a difference between the left and the right these days in this country.

On the left, there can be dissent, and they can argue. I can be a democrat and not like a democrat, and that doesn't suddenly make me any less of a democrat.

On the right, there can be no dissent. There's a static plan everyone must adhere to. Those that do not become RINOs and lose support. Anyone who criticizes what the republican party does is immediately outcast.

The reason the left focuses on the loonies on the right is because the right is either unwilling or unable to deal with them themselves. The right knows they're hurting for votes. This is why they cannot afford to criticize the loonies that pervade their ranks. This is also why the loonies flock to them... they know it's a safe haven.

So don't look down on the Dems for calling a spade a spade. The only reason they have to do it is because the Repubs are incapable of policing their own ranks.

And finally I will note that I'm saying this not as a Dem, but a lapsed Republican who totally plans on voting Republican again when my party finally gets its head screwed on straight again.

they will soon be up again, the totalitarian christians and right wingers are famous on youtube for filing false copyright claims, takes a while untill YT figured it out and will restore the channel. not the first time this stuff happens.

and as they do not praise Jesus in every video, they are evidently totaly anti jesus and anti christianity. :D

I think the Right has gone beyond the tipping point. They are out of balance and it will take a miracle for them to recover. I don't think they have enough credible politicians left to stay viable.

I too think the current republican party is on the downswing. I hate to see it go, but I'd rather have it gone than be as it currently is... a vehicle for extremists and the super rich.

But I will say I hope it doesn't completely go... we don't need a one party system. The democrats are just as prone to corruption as the republicans, and having only one party in power will absolutely exacerbate that issue. I guess what I'm saying is I hope the old republican party comes back. The reasonable one that knows how to negotiate.

And I know I said this before... but Barry Goldwater showed some stunning foresight, didn't he?

I think that the political party with which I disagree is on the downswing.

lolz.

YouTube normally overreacts when they get a copyright claim. It's easier and cheaper for them to simply shut down the offending channel, or remove the videos than to first investigate. False copyright claims is a scourge for many content providers on YT, and often used as a form of censorship.

It is a cowardly one too.

It's an automatic and legally required one.

The laws in place (DMCA) assume that the person filing the claim of copyright is not lying; until someone files a counterclaim, YouTube *has* to block the content. On the flip side, those same laws force YouTube to assume that someone posting a video has the proper rights to it, until someone files a DMCA claim. (This is a simplification of a very complex set of he-said-she-said laws in the DMCA).

I commented the other day that I had "liked" RWW on Facebook and was frankly astounded at the sheer volume of lunacy portrayed... And by quoting these people directly.

I remember getting into my patrol car one night a couple of summers ago and someone had left the car radio on. When I turned on the car I was greeted by Glen Beck in full cry... Moaning about "taking America back" from Obama....
I don't know exactly how many people would qualify as harboring extreme beliefs, but I find it depressing that there appears to be so many.

Taking America back is a rallying cry from either side when the other is in power.

Can you explain this further? If a 45-minute speech is posted, and it's copyrighted, how can that be fair use? Why does the fair use criteria depend on the rebuttal?

Because there is a valid social benefit to the open discussion of ideas criticism is largely exempt from the requirement of permission from the copyright holder. However, there is an understood balancing act as well; there must be significant criticism of the work, or else the courts will hold that it is simply copyright infringement.

Hence, parodies (like Weird Al Yankovic's Eat It) are exempt from copyright claims.

A lot of the people quoted in RWW have enormous influence. Organizations like the Family Research Council and so on carry with them some clout.

I do need to get to work on Stundie Finals. :D

It is a cowardly one too.
If they weren't cowards afraid they and their butt buddy republickers/tea baggers will continue to be shown as liars evil slime and ******* eaters they wouldn't bother stopping others showing their **** - they would welcome it!! Thus I must assume they really don't

That was some fine liberal gibberish. He was talking about you tube.

"Republickers" what a worthless, juvenile taunt.

I think credible politicians of the right will come to the fore as normal service is resumed, with the centre-point further to the left. If the Democrats control the White House, the Senate and the House in 2017 the GOP will have no other option.

From WW2 to the Reagan-Thatcher realignment the centre-point was to the left; state intervention to improve people's lives was regarded as sensible and indeed necessary. There was plenty of time for that idea to lose its shine, hence the realignment to a rejection of state intervention at any price. There's been enough time for that idea to have lost its shine, leading to another realignment.

Remember, you heard it here first :).
