The Ohio cops say they can't find any threat. The Florida cops say they can't find any threat.
As this case drags on, we learn more about Rifqa's supposedly radical Islamic family.

Let's see: Teenage son throwing parties. Rebellious teenage daughter. Kids rejecting parents' religious beliefs. Parents loving kids no matter what. Arguments. Accusations.

What always puzzled me about Rifqa's story was her role as a high-school cheerleader. How could a Muslim extremist dad let his daughter wear a short skirt and shake pompoms?
Investigators from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement asked her. She said her parents had no idea what being a cheerleader entailed, that she wore sweat pants when she left for practice to hide her skirt, and that her parents never saw a picture of her in her outfit.
When investigators went to the parents' apartment, they saw pictures of Rifqa in her cheerleading outfit prominently displayed.
In another inconsistency, Rifqa said a teacher offered to take her in because of her father's threats. But the teacher told investigators she didn't know about any threats. Her offer was for those nights her brother was throwing parties.

There is one point of agreement between Rifqa and her father. They did have a confrontation in which he grabbed her laptop computer.
She says he threatened to kill her with it. He says he was mad and was going to throw it across the room. But the Amway salesman changed his mind when he remembered how much it cost. Both agree he didn't touch her.
You could see Rifqa's attorney John Stemberger back off the crazy-killer dad charge when he suddenly attacked the Noor Islamic Cultural Center. This is where the Bary family goes. Stemberger calls it a hotbed of extremism and terrorism — imaginary charges not substantiated by any law-enforcement agency — and a threat to Rifqa.
The Noor center is known for engaging in community charity and reaching out to other faiths. It is considered very mainstream.
Rabbi Misha Zinkow of Temple Israel in Columbus, Ohio, recently spoke there at an inter-faith gathering.
"Their presence in the community is a positive one," he said. "My interaction with the Muslim community has been very positive."
