Quick note - the problem with Youtube videos not embedding on the forum appears to have been fixed, thanks to ZiprHead. If you do still see problems let me know.
Orph, how come your thread's got more attention than mine? I even dreamt up some hilarious title for mine as well. OTOH, "Richard Gage to appear alongside Andrew Wakefield" has, like, totally zero imagination!
Well, the Travelling Wilburys don't really make one think of woo. Andrew Wakefield (not to mention Richard Gage) pushes all the debunking buttons. Sometimes the truth has more impact than the imagined.
This is money some promoter is raising to try and recoup costs or make a profit. Luke would have to have money up front for airplane tickets. Venue operators would have to be paid ahead of time. Given the turnout at similar recent events, there is considerable risk in this venture.
They would only have to pay a deposit for the venue. The balance is paid after the show. (Mr Nay works in Entertainment.)
Sure, there's risk. That's the fun part in this case. Too many more of these events and they'll be sunk.
Is it just me, or are twoof ticket prices extremely low these days? I remember seeing quite a few youtubes of twoof talks where the rooms were nearly empty, and maybe they're bringing the prices down now.
So where did the money come from? I understand that similar events in Australia featuring Dicki and Luke were paid for by funds linked to fascist groups and individuals.
No idea. My guess is that there IS no backing. These guys are barely making ends meet. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if there was some dirty money involved somewhere.
