Rethink your Trump hatred ?

If you want to be more specific, I hereby encourage it ; )

Are there specific rights implied by the Bill of Rights that you don't want the Supreme Court to grant to citizens?

I think at this point I'd prefer to simply stipulate that you've won whatever argument you're trying to set up here.

If you'd like to discuss constitutional interpretation in a thread dedicated to that topic, and the discussion remains relatively civil even over partisan disagreements, I might meet you there. But here? We're done.

yes he does.
Clearest sign is how much he watches and reads the news he calls Fake; his entire life he has been a Democrat on issues he actually thought about.
He wants to be accepted and respected by the people who never will, because they can see through him.

That's just a man suffering from that mixture of huge ego but minimal self esteem.

Again I'm not saying hating Trump is... morally wrong (not exactly the right wording but close-ish...) I just doubt it's usefulness.

No you misread me, I don't do the thing you're describing; try to score points or "win" or whatever, sorry for the misunderstanding. I was simply curious.

I gotta hold on to my Trump hate. I preserve it, because I need it. It keeps me sharp, on the edge where I gotta be.

Actually, I pity him most of the time.
I do hate McConnell, Nunes, Graham, Kelly and all the "adults in the room" who give Trump some sweeties while they rob the Candy Store.

I'd sell my soul to have just 24 hours were in political discussions everybody had to argue postively for whatever candidate/side/party/method they support without any reference to any other "side."
So much this. Below the peevish "but but clinton!1" knee-jerk reactions, there are genuine reasons for supporting Trump. I know there are. I just wish his supporters would come right out and tell us. I want to get to know them and understand them better, both on this forum and elsewhere, not talk to a wall of "libtards!!" and "butbutobama" or "he doesnt mean that!!!!".

Edit: yes, I know, I'm focusing on the Trump supporters here -- but that's because I see in Clinton supporters, and/or Trump opponents, a far stronger will to admit it when our candidates do wrong, and not defend them when they don't deserve it.

You keep insisting Antifa behaves lawfully. They do not....
Oh boy, did you read past the headline?

Trump declares the antifa are violent. Oh like that's evidence.

There's this claim:
“These antifa guys were showing up with weapons, shields and bike helmets and just beating the **** out of people ... they’re using Molotov cocktails, they’re starting fires, they’re throwing bombs and smashing windows.”
Evidence?

Well it's in this sooper secret report and we are supposed to take Trump's word for it:
A confidential intelligence report by the DHS and the FBI accused the "anarchist extremists" of attacks on police, government and political institutions, along with any other symbols of the "capitalist system" or displays of racism, social injustice or fascism.

It described some of their activities as "domestic terrorist violence".

Then there is a petition:
The comes as close to 350,000 people signed a petition calling on Mr Trump to “formally recognise” anti-fascists as terrorists.

The US Government is giving white supremacist groups tax exemptions
The petition, which was created following the Virginia violence, urged the federal government to declare Antifa a terror group out of “principle, integrity, morality and safety”.

Mr Trump came under heavy criticism after he claimed there had been violence “on both sides” in the wake of the rally, which left one person dead after a white supremacist allegedly drove his car into a group of counter-protesters.
So Trump blames the victims of the white supremacists and the right wing got a petition going to repeat Trump's lies. Other than the petition, there are no incidents cited.

There's this: Viral photo of Antifa member 'beating up police officer in Charlottesville' is fake

The anarchists are a group of people who show up around here (left coast) at rallies and break windows. They don't represent more than a small minority and I'm not sure how much they profess Progressive goals. They mostly don't like big corporations. They don't meet any dangerous antifa claim.

The problem with that would be fact checking.

Trumpers and the GOP are currently selling the falsehood that Trump's done a great job with the economy and kept all his promises.

Truth, we're lucky Trump hasn't messed up the economy yet but he hasn't fixed anything. Decreased unemployment is a continuation of the curve it was on. Adding a tax-cut stimulus at a time it wasn't needed EXPLODED the National Debt. Wages remain stagnant. Results from messing around with trade-war tempting tariffs remains to be seen. But Trump thinks the US is untouchable and we could get screwed by his **** you attitude toward other countries.

As for his better heath care campaign promise, does anyone here have cheaper better insurance now? Clearly Mexico didn't pay for any wall. Clinton wasn't prosecuted, thank gawd for that one. He has more than enough time for golfing at the expense of millions of tax dollars.

Hopefully you get the idea, making positive claims about our sides would be nothing but BS without fact checking.

in a two-party system, is this really sensible?

I would be more interested having each side state their ideal idea for the country: it is said that constructive disagreement is only possible if you agree on the end goal and are only divided on the means.
I fear Progressives and Conservatives are deeply divided on what they believe America ought to be, making cooperation and compromise more or less impossible.
And Conservatives are seriously lying about what Progressives are and what we want.

I'm sure they think the same about us but with fact checking we might just see.

6) Double standard. Incompetence can be excused when Obama does it? Okay, have an incompetent president. Dishonesty is okay when Hillary Clinton does it? Okay, have a dishonest president. Accusations of rape are meaningless when they're leveled against Bill? Okay, have Trump.

So your goal was to elect the most incompetent, least honest, rapiest candidate you could?

Mission Accomplished! LOL!

You might want to take a step back and think about this seriously for a bit. It's not really a laughing matter.

Why? You're the fool who voted for him, not me.

I'm just looking on the bright side and laughing at the fact anyone could be so gullible.

"Don't laugh at me because it might make me do something stupid!"

Is that your position?

trump cult, no clue what a metaphor is

Does trump require followers to be propaganda spreaders?

What? - cherry picked quote mining - the stuff the "best people" have to do since the liar in chief spews insults and lies.

The truth is too hard to post for the trump cult, and trump cult has no clue what a metaphor is, and they are proud to prove it.

I'm not a "Trump supporter", but I'll be happy to support (one aspect of) this amazing, unbelievable personality. We were speaking of this -- or I was -- in the Trump Nobel thread.

Man's hilarious. Quite apart from anything else he is or does, he is simply and truly hilarious. No one who isn't blinded by their hate for the man can fail to see that. Thanks to him, news clips featuring him are often funnier than the most carefully thought-up comic shows. Every time he opens his mouth ...

Not one US Prez -- not one -- is a tenth as funny as he is. Not one world leader anywhere, anytime, that I can think of.

Sure, he's a terrible Prez, but no one can take away his (unintentional) comic genius from him.
Funny as a Garfield comic.

But in the minds of thousands of conservatives (and probably a few liberals too) it's real. Very few will ever find out the truth about that lie, and even then they won't completely disbelieve it. So they live in fear of fake 'terrorism' while the real terrorist (the Deplorable who created and distributed the fake photo) gets off scot-free because 'freedom of speech'.

White supremacist? Trump supporter? Rabid partisan? Russian troll? Bored teenager? Whoever was responsible for this act of mental terrorism should be hunted down and punished without mercy. But of course that won't happen, especially since it supports the authority's narrative. And since our own president also engages in the same behavior...
