Where to post, where to post? Maybe in burning letters on the White House lawn? Just two would suffice.

I think Stout is being a little Paranoid.
I doubt even Trump will be able to track down everybody who said something nasty about him.

i'd have waited until we see how the mass deportations go before writing that. hopefully they go well

Methinks he was being facetious.
Somewhat

Unless "the resistance" is only going to amount to bitching on Bluesky. Given those countless videos I seen of people melting down on TikTok I suspect it might be a little more serious than that. Why only today I watched a video by a woman who refuses to have children while Trump is in office and figures that in 4 years her age will put her in the high-risk pregnancy category which that means she'll probably never have children. This might be a 4B thing, dunno.

It all depends on how bad you think things are REALLY going to get. A lot of what I wrote above is what Russians are doing to get around Putin's restrictions and the American Right wing is doing to circumvent Big Tech censorship.

What drives me nuts is the "We Are Doomed and There Is Nothing We Can Do About" rants since last Tuesday...and we have seen alot of them here.
I just hink any control of the Internet in the US is going to be damned hard to acheive.

it's really more about seeing some other perspectives that aren't yours as to why they're making different decisions than you though, isn't it?
Now that Xitter is right-coded and Blueski is left-coded there is going to be a fair bit less of the "other perspectives" for most users.

hopefully. i don't think subjecting yourself to misery of arguing politics on giant social media sites is necessarily a good or healthy leisure activity for a lot of people, for the marginal benefit of seeing "other perspectives" so to me people recognizing that is probably better for them. so my perspective is it's a reasonable decision to not want to do that. in fact as the discourse continues to erode, i don't even think it's a very good venue for it.

Agreed. It's hard to tell how much of this ranting is simply performative and how much is based in real fear. We'll have to see what the future holds. "The Resistance" is looking purely performative at this point in time. Retreating to a safe space, blue heart tattoos and bracelets, I'm not buying into the Aqua Tofana idea being anything but extreme fringe.

You know you can choose only to see the tweets posted by the accounts you follow, right?
And? I'm pointing out that Twitter is/was already effectively curating the content you see, so you aren't being exposed to a random sample of other users' posts. The phenomenon of ideological segmentation was there when Twitter was halfway functional.

I don't think that was ever envisaged. You can choose "For You" and let Twitter choose what it thinks might interest you, or you can choose "Following" and only see tweets from people you are following. It doesn't and never has served up random posts.

I mean, when wasn't it anything other than anti-Trump folks talking to each other about the Outrage of the Day?

I suppose there are some exceptional resistors who were focused on grassroots campaigning (https://indivisible.org/organize-your-home-turf) but that wasn't even 5% of what I was seeing in my feeds.

It is going tob elike Vietnam: the resistence will become effective only when "average" Americans join it rather then the Usual suspects.
Walter Cronkite's turning against the war was the turning point when oppostion became mainstream.
