Obama is beating up on them a little to harshly, I guess. The fact is that as the days pass, they are finding themselves in doubt of what they thought were their chances of taking over the congress. It may happen, but this guy, Obama, hits back.

Oops! The republican party looks like the gang that couldn't shoot straight.

Democratic party "Meeting half way"

You forgot something. "Heres what we're going to do. Your part is to like it [since you just want to play politics by mis-characterizing everything]."

Sorry rw - that is what Obama tried early on (trying to meet halfway as it is normally used)- I thought that was a bad idea, but he thought your guys were more rational/reasonable (by a long shot) than I did. Bush taught me better than to ever again think that (and only my experiences from the 50s and 60s made me think it at all).

Obama has finally realized that Republickers don't care if the country and the majority of the people in it go to hell in a handcart (and most of what they push makes it more likely that they go beyond don't care to actively want it to happen) as long as they and their buttbuddies stay on top. More power to Obama.

Yeah, that's right.
All the Republicans should be rounded up and shot as traitors, because they don't give a damn about the country.
You guys are so full of **** it bleeds into my computer. Stinky.

Yes, because it was a respected Democratic Party leader who said "Bipartisanship is just another name for date rape". Hint, it wasn't.
It was Gingrich.

It was also Democrats who said that any criticism of the Government was "anti-Americanism" and that those criticising should "Love it or leave it". Or do those rules only apply when a Republican is President?

Gee, you could have just said "politicians whining again", since both sides do it in equal amounts. I find partisans from both sides equally repugnant, whiny, and only interested in playing one-up-manship with each other, and care not one whit for what is right, good and needed for America, just what can make the other side look bad.
Thanks for confirming my low opinion of y'all!

This is funny!

The GOP should just stop bitching and pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Hell, that's what they tell everyone else to do ;)

Btw, if the GOP doesn't take back either house of Congress (which seems pretty likely if you look at the prediction markets), then I wonder if they'll do a double take and reconsider this strategy of playing to the looniest of the hard right-wing loons within their ranks?

I certainly hope so, because, honestly, I'd like to see more moderate Republicans (read: Scott Brown) in Congress to balance out the crazy in the GOP and provide some realistic counter-balance to the Dems.

If not, then the GOP had better get used to minority status.

They could if all those minorities weren't sucking up the extra entitlement good folk* produce for their own kin!

*guess what word I left out of 'good folk'

I agree. You really did not expect a serious and civil discussion of the merits of the two political parties here did you?

Both political parties are distinct separate businesses. Each has their core customers. Each are trying to get more customers. Each will take care of their own business first.

So it goes.

That's odd; that's pretty much the Republican message I remember from the Bush Jr years.

Maybe they're just projecting.

Maybe a better thread title would be "Republicans doing what the party out of power always does, again.

This is true.
