Republicans Want to Change Ethics Rules

It is official, the House Republicans have approved the rule change. Tom DeLay will not be ousted from his leadership position if he is indicted for corruption by a state grand jury.

It's depressing to think that I'm not as cynical as I thought I was. I was surprised that they'd consider it, and surprised again that they'd do it. I have learned, however, not to be surprised that there will not be a big uproar about this from those who voted Republican. If facts and reality are malleable for political advantage, why shouldn't ethics be?

Too bad "Thou shalt not be a hypocrite" is not one of the Ten Commandments. By God, it ought to be.

That would be problematic for God; smartasses would stand in the ruins of Sodom and quote "Thou shalt not kill", or bring up all those dead Egyptian firstborns.
