I wonder when moderate forces from both sides of the aisle will eventually come together and legislate. Been a long time since congress has actually functioned.

Democrats are moderate. Republicans are extremists and the dysfunction in Congress is 100% their fault.

I think that there must be at least a few republicans that aren't extremist in their views, I hope so at least. I won't argue the dysfunction is squarely their fault. I think that any hope out of this gridlock would be for voters to come toward the center when choosing candidates. Probably wishful thinking as the slack jawed retards seem to vote contrary to what should be in most cases their vested interests. Why a middle class or poorer voter would ever vote for a republican always mystifies me.

Thats fine. .. just dont go guns a' blazin if in the future a republican president acts on Obama's precedent of side stepping congress to do something congress isnt generally approving. That is my one and only disclaimer if you feel he did the correct course of action.

Edit: Obama isnt the first to use executive actions or to get criticized for it. But as always, memory in politics tends.to be short term

Good slippery slope argument there. "Mr. X acted like a dick, so Mr. Y is going to act like a dick because it's okay to act like a dick now."

You refereed to Democrats and an immigration bill. The only one that I know passed the Senate like two years ago and John Boehner refused to put it up for a vote.

I might well disapprove of an executive action taken by a future President, but if Congress tries to undo it by tying it to an appropriations bill, they will be 100% at fault for the crisis that follows.

The President doesn't work for Congress, never has. He doesn't need their approval to use his executive power.

You and i agree on this much. I will leave it there. I have my problems with the executive action which we arent going to agree on, but i do agree it should not have been a contingency in the DHS funding bill or a decider in whether their funding stops or continues.


Edit: and i meant obamas immigration action. Not a bill. Sorry for the confusion. I just realized how i worded it

GB, but remember that the Constitution is not a suicide pact. The powers of the executive have waxed and waned both while the Constitution is unchanged. If there is a damned good reason for an action, and no other way to either get to happen politically, or get it to happen FAST enough, then executive action has to be available.

I really wish we had seen instead of a repeal attached to this funding bill, but instead a comprehensive immigration reform bill attached to it. Even if I disagreed with it!

Thing is one already passed the Senate and it probably would have passed the House too if Boehner bothered to put it up for a vote.

The debt ceiling is approaching. Let's see what kind of stunts Republicans will pull over that only to cave at the last minute.

Many years ago when I disagreed with Republicans about policy issues I always respected them because I believed that these same Republicans actually did love the nation and were acting in accord with that love. But now, just about every national Republican has become quite loathsome and is nothing but a stupid, idiotic, liar.

Not so much. I just recall how partisans naturally bulls eye the blame on the opposing party, but will never do so if similar actions are taken by the party they support. Are you suggesting this cycle hasnt been in repetition?

Democrats don't hold the government hostage in completely futile attempts to get their way.
 
This crop of GOP players... I remember back twenty years ago when I thought they couldn't be worse.
