Rename John Wayne Airport?

Being one of those "in the know" type of travelers who only uses The International Air Transport Association's three digit code system for airports, I propose we dispense with names altogether and just go with those.

We'd be talking YYJ->YVR->BNE->DPS

or

YYJ->SEA->SAP->UII

Then we'd all sound like hipsters.

It's too dangerous nowadays to name things after people. Even naming something after a PoC can be problematic I was going to post yesterday and suggest they change the name to Michael Jackson Airport, but now, I'm not so sure that would be a good idea.

I think it should be renamed, but I'm not going to campaign very hard for it. I think there are more important issues.

I wish.

16 hours Vancouver to Brisbane, layover, then 6 hours Brisbane to Denpasar and that was the fastest routing I could find. Really good price too.

I'm sure all those airports have names but I don't know what they are.

My worst flight, but brought it because I was young, it was stupidly cheap and I was poorish.

Wait in Auckland was 4 hours. Sydney 6 hours. Hong Kong 7 hours. Zurich about blimmin' 45 minutes of running.

WLG --> AKL --> SYD --> HKG --> ZRH --> LHR

When I switched to Swiss Air I got a mini Toblerone though, which was nice.

Also, think of all the derps that will get stranded in Orange County that wanted to go to Denver, Colorado.

A bit like the lady from Saxony who ended up in Bordeaux, France, when she wanted to go to Porto, Portugal. In Saxonian dialect, the p's and t's sound like b an d.

They could name the airport in Denver after John Denver, in Washington after George Washington, in Austin after Austin Powers, in London after Jack, in Berlin after Irving, in Paris after Mrs. Hilton, in San Francisco after the current pope, etc.
