In another thread about pseudo-religion, Ladewig asked:

I was looking forwRd to hearing more about how reincarnation works in your view.

Of the 7-something billion people alive today, how many are measurably wiser or more enlightened because of their reincarnations? Are you one of these wiser people, yourself? In broad terms, how long does it take to become more spiritually mature through this process?

I responded.

Now that is of interest. I will start a new thread. (Reincarnation: Soul Evolution) See you there.

Through personal experience (a learning journey) I have come to believe in reincarnation of souls.

Until a few years ago, I thought souls and spirits were the same thing. This changed when I experienced the ghost of a recent suicide who was haunting a cottage I was in, and doing the poltergeist thing.

A series of events led me to think that the formless genderless soul is an entity that survives death, and that the spirit, which takes the living form, decays.

Thinking about souls (if they exist, and I am presuming they do) led me to some conclusions. These conclusions were informed by the belief systems of many religions. It seemed logical that souls cannot just collect in some place after death. Other events helped confirm (confirmation bias?) my hypothesis.

I need to limit my time due to other commitments so I will leave it here for the time being, and give members a chance to respond. I will do responses within a day or two of my last post

The late Dr Michael Newton's key books provide everything 98% of people would be smart to be aware of .
If you cannot be bothered to search further , then clearly your next development chapter is still around at least one more corner .

There is no such thing as reincarnation, and no such thing as a soul. You are postulating about the existence and interaction of two made up things.

So how did you recognize this ghost as being one and the same as the recent suicide victim?

Pretty much. And I am betting that you "evidences" for reincarnation will run into the same problems that other thread showed.

Good for you . But in time you will learn .

Where do all the new souls come from?
Population has increased hugely over the last few hundred years, new souls must be manufactured somewhere.

Has anyone ever detected a soul?
What is its method of propagation from an old body to a new one?
If a soul remembers nothing from its previous life wnd is reset whrn reincarnated, how can it improve?

Whereabouts in a body would you find the soul? I mean, cut off a hand, has the soul gone?

Credulity isn't exactly development.

Way back in the 70s, when I was reading up on Wiccan beliefs, I came across a book wherin the author claimed to have figured out where those "new souls" were coming from.

Gorillas.

Really. He felt that essentially everything reincarnated, and that gorillas were just "below" humans.... So a spiritually-advanced (I'm not making this up) gorilla would reincarnate as a human.

The fact that at the time there were only a few thousand actual gorillas still living didn't seem to enter into his ideas. As I recall, there were racist elements as well.... The newly-reincarnated gorillas represented the more "primitive" human beings. You can guess who those were.

Late? You mean dead? Isn't he supposed to come back?

Part of my problem with reincarnation and soul evolution is that, although my evidence is largely anecdotal, it seems all the people who believe in it are demonstrating the opposite of what they'd like. Now I know evolution is value free, but wouldn't it be nicer if reincarnation made us smarter instead of dumber?

Depends on what information you are trying to base a logical argument on.
You might want to reevaluate preconceptions you may have regarding the nature of the universe.
It very well might be that the universe by its nature absorbs souls in much the same way as say your own physical body captures and keeps close to it, your own consciousness that identifies you as a person.
