Rapture Ready on the Daily Show

Anyone catch Rapture Ready's appearance on The Daily Show? (Apocalypse Now)

The folks at RR did.
The RR link is more funny than the show. Apparently there are quite a few Readyans who don't realize Colbert is satire.

And then there's this:
I used to watch the cobert report (pronounce that darn t already!) but I couldn't stand him taking the Lord's name in veign all of the time.

And they don't seem to have much issue with his being a catholic and so even his satirical persona wouldn't agree with them

I like how one poster asked how they were to carry out the mission of going into the world to spread the world if they were trying to stay away from the world. No one responded.

Makes you wonder if they ever debate anything or just tell each other how the rest of the world is evil and agree that they agree on the Bible's teachings.

Debates are not possible on rr. Support a position of disagreement with enough evidence and you will find yourself kicked off.

I disagree. I've managed to have a few successful debates on rr.

Granted, I did have to walk a very thin line and choose my battles very carefully, but it is possible.

I think they asked Todd to come onto that show and Todd wisely refused. They make fun of people and mock God.

Good move on his part, they'd set a trap and make him look foolish.

A trap!

Stewart: "Please explain what you believe."

I suspect you're far more diplomatic than I in these matters.

brilliant i've just registered....

one of the forum rules

No Antichrist or False Prophet Speculation - As with date speculation, making predictions regarding the identity of the Antichrist and/or the False Prophet hurts our credibility and can harm the faith of newer Christians when they do not come to pass. While both may be alive today, their identity will not be revealed until during the Tribulation, not before. Because of these things, as well as the fact that Scripture says that both are condemned, speculating over their identity is irresponsible, unproductive and not permitted. (2 Thes 2:3-8)

Oh, that's easy - they don't.

I lurk on rr frequently. There is no debate there. Debate is simply not allowed.

For instance just recently, somebody posted a thread asking when everybody went from just believing in Jesus to actually knowing as a fact that he existed. After various nice stories of conversion and such, one guy pointed out that they didn't really know he existed, it was all about faith and belief. He was told to move it to their "apologetics" forum (which is invisible to non members, so I can only imagine what kinds of ass-kickings the believers get in there). He made another post explaining that all he meant was that belief and certainty are not the same, no matter how strong the belief. That was his last post; they accused him of being an atheist and banned him outright on the spot.

Typical RR thread - not a parody, this is another perfectly real thread from a few months ago :

"I was in a ball game the other day and I saw two girls holding hands and then they kissed! I am so disgusted! Why is this even allowed!"

Followed by thirty or forty replies saying variants of "It saddens me so much that people are beholden to satan like that. This world is sooooo evil. Come soon Lord Jesus!"

The only counterpoint on that thread was when somebody asked if it isn't just as bad to see men and women kissing in public (they agreed it was, though funnily enough you never see threads started about that for some reason). That's about as high as the level of questioning gets.

The only that is ever actually debated is bible verses and how people interpret them. The bible itself is never to be questioned in the slightest, but they can argue about what verses are referring to, what particular words mean, which translation is best, etc.

It's really quite a fascinating place. It's like watching an ant colony.

I'm still not convinced Rapture Ready isn't a parody site.

Whether the site itself is or isn't, the forum is full of actual people. No matter what topic a board has, people are going to stray a little, and that includes "role playing" forums. If everyone on that forum was playing a role, I'm sure there would still be places where people could actually voice real opinions and I doubt they would ALL take this as seriously.

They have nearly 20,000 members, nearly 10,000 of whom are active members. That's more than on this board. We're outnumbered.

Freaky.

Dibs on their stuff when they're raptured.

OK. Pretty much whatever you say will make me laugh. Even if you're trying to be serious, it's the combo of your name and that darned avatar of yours. You just crack me up. I can't help it.
