I just waded through all the papers on my desk and unearthed a scrap of paper with the notation "Houdini, Discovery Health Channel, Oct. 29th @ 10 PM, Oct. 30th@ 1 AM, Nov. 2 @ 7 PM"
I seem to recall a film crew in here many months ago interviewing Randi for a show they were producing, and apparently it's finally airing.

For the life of me, I can't recall anything else about it. I don't think we get the Discovery Health Channel on our cable system, but in case anyone out there does, let us know what you see. I'm sure the production company will be sending us a tape.

So... whose this Houdini guy whose health is in issue? Whatever his health problem, I hope he's going to be all right.

Seriously, now: the Discovery Health Channel is available to me through Dish Network, but only at a higher charge, I think. I'd gladly trade all the home shopping channels for the Discovery channels, but it doesn't work that way.

I do receive the regular Discovery channel, though. Perhaps the program will be aired on that channel in the near future.

Thanks for the notice

Thanks for the notice Linda. I get that channel via Comcast Digital Cable. I will record it and I can extract the excerpts of the show in which Randi is interviewed and convert to a streaming video format if anyone is interested. :)

That's wonderful! Thanks!

I saw the show!

It was very good, and included a lot of screen time for Mr. Randi. His interview was spread out over the extent of the program (this was generally true for the other interviewees as well). In other words, there is no single block of time in which Mr. Randi appears.

This program (gasp!) gives away a few of Houdini's secrets, including some little-known safety devices available to (but never actually used by) Houdini in his hazardous escapes.

Of surprise to me was Mr. Randi's demeanor when he made some of his remarks. Dare I say that he almost spoke about Houdini with reverence?

The show will be rebroadcast this weekend, I believe.

Linda, if you're reading this thread, perhaps you can answer a question.

How much preparation did Mr. Randi do for this interview? He appeared to have quite a few facts at his fingertips. I have no doubt that he is an expert on Houdini, but did he have to brush up on his facts (especially the facts surrounding Houdini's illness and death)?

Of course those ones, and secrets not revealed or tricks shown, can be found by a Google search. :)

I am told, by a reliable source, that some published Houdini "secrets" are actually quite wrong.
