I am not sure why it is kooky. Or why it is right wing.

Over half the U.S. states already allow ex-felons to vote, as does most of Europe. (barring convictions for voter fraud and the like)

Yes, if we just pass up the "screw the disadvantaged" and "allow those with the money to get away with anything" dishes, libertarianism doesn't look so bad.

That said, I agree with Paul on this. Good for him. Now if he'd come out against all these "Voter ID" laws his party keeps passing...

Rand's view on this issue isn't right wing or kooky.

The point of the OP is that Rand Paul is a kooky, right-wing politician that happens to be trying to expand voting rights. This is a rare thing for anyone on the Right to do. Usually, they are trying to reduce voting rights.

Paul said he believes that an American who does not pose an imminent threat should not be subject to extrajudicial killing based solely on the president's orders. As it happens I agree with him completely on that one.

I did a quick google and it doesn't look like it. IMHO he's wrong on that one. Voter ID laws are a solution that's looking for a problem.

Actually, Paul only opposes killing on American soil by use of drones (death by cop is okie dokie) unless imminent threat. Something no one in the government has publicly opposed. He is just cashing in on the scary buzzword rather than taking any sort of real ethical or legal stand.

His sissy rant (it wasn't a real filibuster) was just a strawman attack.

On issues like this and how he wants to challenge executive power (the NSA and all that rot), I agree with him.

However, there's the other 95% of the crazy crap that he pushes which needs to be considered.
