Racist McCain/Palin Supporters

What if you think that there would be a beneficial social effect, such as improved race-relations? Is that legitimate grounds to consider as one of many factors?

That's a tight rope Obama will have to walk. He could very easily polarize race-relations.

Just like George Wallace, David Duke or Robert Byrd when Byrd was young and a member of the KKK.

I expect that we are going to find out.

Ya, hopefully his presidency will curb alot of the paranoia. You know if things get worse in the economy and Reid/Pelosi get free reign with passing bills, it could ruin what might have been a great thing for the country. Also, he has way too many expectations from people and from too many angles IMO.

538 reports that McCain is preparing to play the race card as his final strategy going up to the 4th. He will begin in PA and hopes that success there will spread to all of Appalachia.
He doesn't need to, at least in PA, thanks to Murtha.

The same can be said of McCain. After this election, whoever is President is going to have to tread very carefully, or face a level of racial violence we have not seen in a long time.

But I mistrust any montage type video on YouTube. I was probably one of the worst amateur filmmakers around when I took a course on it in college and, like a lot of young foolish people thought I was Orson Welles making Citizen Kane, when in fact I made Ed Wood look like a accomplished director. But one thing I did take away was how easy it is to manipulate stuff through editing. Guaranteed, I could make a film making Obama supporters look like a bunch of Kooks From Planet X and a bunch of Stalin Style Commies if I had access to enough footage.

If that happens, and it works, then this country is really screwed. I am talking something apporaching a Second Civil War screwed.

Pardon my ignorance... what does this statement actually mea...

Oh jinkies!! For some reason I read Obama, not McCain! I was completely confused, trying to imagine Obama giving some kind of speech about people of all races coming together. ZOMG!1!! *wags finger at self for complete failure of reading comprehension* :boxedin:

Not sure why you are rolling your eyes... Obama is just as white as he is black.

If you want to call a half white / half black man "black" it is just as far to call the same half black / half white man "white".... that is unless you consider "black" to be anything other than a pure breed white but then we have a different problem.

We all share common DNA, descended from common proto-cells. What is a pure breed white?

My (cynical) guess is that "black" is someone whose skin colour looks "different" than their own (in this context, anyway).

He is a Libertarian. In fact he ran for NY governor on the LP ticket a few years back.

Yeah in 1994, and that was part of his radio shtick. That's a long time ago. He's an independent and has been for years.

In July 2004, he told his listeners: "I'm an independent... I always vote for the best guy."

If only 99.9% of the posters of individually produced videos on YouTube could have that realization!!!:)

It's a nice bonus ... but it shouldn't be at the heart of the issue. The only way I could see that as important enough to warrant a decision would be if all other factors among the candidates balanced out. Or if somehow there were extreme social upheavals in play being crucial issues. I do not believe we as a nation are currently in that state. Besides, isn't the fact that Obama is a candidate at all enough to dispel the myth that race is too big a factor to not get him where he is? He's now at the point where that should no longer be an issue, if it really ever was.

I'd say that 'race' is only half as big a factor as its often portrayed.

(even rednecks can see the whitey in him)

Okay, they are not the only contigent among his supporters, but McCain is considered to have a lock on the ignorant religious fanatic redneck vote.

When Obama tries to pick up a taxi in New York, he is black.
