This could probably go in humour, but I thought I'd put it here. It's a wonder she hasn't been accused of fat shaming too. Some people need to get a life.

The owner of Fat Cupcake, Anjelica Hayes, said she's from a biracial family and said racism hits home for her. She said she didn't intend to offend anyone.

Hayes said she knew her cupcake with an Oreo Cookie baked inside would be a hit and needed a name that would fit.

"What job position would you wear a formal suit to, and I thought the presidential office. What's more elite than that?" said Hayes.

Hayes decided to name the cupcake "Mr. President." She later found out President Barack Obama's favorite cookie was the Oreo.

Customers have left Yelp reviews criticizing Hayes of being racist.

Don't forget sexist, presidents can be female too.
Let's all be glad it isn't cultural appropriation, since cupcakes are an American invention.

Patting our white selves on the back for electing "our" first "African American" president is racist.

Automatically associating Obama with the descendents of the involuntary African diaspora, because he is "black," is racist.

What we need is a gallery of 44 cupcakes, decorated in some manner evocative of or symbolically referential to men in suits. Some of them have sprinkles (beards) and some don't.

And only one is marbled half-chocolate under the frosting. Can you tell which one?

Bill Clinton was our first black president. Barack Obama is our first woman president. If Hillary Clinton wins, she'll be our first gay president.

Agreed. Are you saying that this is applicable to this story? I don't see it.

Nixon?

My understanding is that she created a man in a suit cupcake, and then chose 'Mr President' as the name for it. She has now renamed it 'The Professional' which seems to be closer to the inspiration anyway.

How glaringly ludicrous. The place is called Fat Cupcake, is that going to be next just because some over-large person gets their feelings hurt?

Wow, you guys are really easily offended.

Someone makes a dumb comment on Yelp and it's "What is the world coming to!"

People have always said dumb things whether those dumb things are politically correct or offensive. The fact that someone posted comments on Yelp and the name of a cupcake has been changed isn't newsworthy. Come on guys.

You lack of faux rage is faux disturbing.

I think it's a much bigger problem than you think.

Can you imagine being the prosecuting attorney in a rape case when virtually every high-profile rape case in memory has turned out to be a hoax?

Can you imagine trying to get justice for real cases of discrimination when naming a cupcake "Mr. President" is "racist?"

I think the fact that it was printed by a news outlet, makes comments about it not being newsworthy, kinda redundant.

Thanks for the input though.

Actually, pointing out that a news story is newsworthy would be redundant.. ( Assuming everything reported by any news outlet is newsworthy.. )

There must be another word that would suit your point....

C'mon troops, let's get organized here. Let's not forget why we're here. This is our weekly Outrage Industry Gonna Build a Mountain From a Little Hill thread. It is important to get your Outrage glasses on. Try some more exclamation points.

Try this: How dare these Feminazi SJWs mount a campaign to cripple this woman's business!!!!

Or maybe: Typical Lefty SJW Tone Deaf Libruls!!!

How about: The Left Has Abandoned All Common Sense and Is Destroying Life As We Know(Knew) It!!!!

Most important, of course, is don't let facts get in your way. Does the expression "tool" ring a bell. There was one (ONE!!!) review on Yelp. The woman answered it and gave the commenter her contact details and the bakery thought about it and renamed the cupcake.

End of Story. Until someone on a slow news day picked up on the single Yelp comment. A single comment. Maroons! Now the entire Outraged By Your Outrage Industry is on it. Someone call Milo.

Pointless?

I saw a catchy headline, and I shared it. Maybe that is pointless. But hey, people are talking about it. I wasn't joking about thinking it could have gone to the humour forum.

So ..... people see outrage and hyperbole in some mocking comments about a stupid social media happening ......

So they ridicule with hyperbole and outrage.
