Describing its mission as “a ministry of love, inspiration, learning, wholeness and joy that empowers all people to embrace their Divine Nature” the Unity Church of Tucson will be the setting for a March 13, 2014 6:30pm speaking event by a former professional actress and night club entertainer who has transformed herself with claims of God-like powers and now pushes $1000 telephone bookings as a medium to the dead.

She’s also a “super psychic” who claims she is capable of visioning lost children and locating the lost and missing while using pendulums held over maps.

And this guest speaker also claims God-like powers of levitation and even paranormal energy flowing from her body providing powers to cure and heal. More? How about her claims of being able to change physical matter and room temperatures with only her mind?

Yes, she’s the same woman who JREF forum members may recall in late October this year responded on the JREF forum (”Cocoa Beach Library books 'courageous' psychic detective”) and couldn’t dig out from her web site deceptions at falsely claiming herself as an "adjunct faculty member" with "teaching appointments" at many academic institutions, including bogus claims of teaching college accredited courses at the University of Florida, the University of Delaware, and the University of Virginia.

She's also the same visionary psychic who during her own court testimony couldn’t recall the name of any high school she attended and apparently may not have had schooling beyond the 8th grade!

Yes, appearing at the Unity Church of Tucson will be Noreen Renier, who after receiving a judgment from one federal court for breaching a Florida State agreement was shortly afterward cited in another 2011 federal court ruling as not credible and having misled the court.

And of course this is Noreen Renier who has falsely claimed hundreds of non-existent hiring’s by police agencies and on the back cover of one of her books is bogusly declared an “investigator for the FBI” --- a statement which FBI senior officers strongly denied in testimony when asked about Renier's exaggerated connections to working with the FBI.

This March 2014 Tucson Arizona speaking event is being promoted by a local Tucson group (Tucson IANDS) founded by Chuck Swedrock and Susan Amsden which is affiliated with the International Association for Near Death Studies. The group claims to provide information, education, and support concerning near-death or similar transformative experiences.

So why do they book a medium who has a 'not a credible witness' judgment against her by one federal court which was afterwards further supported when two even higher federal courts found Renier's 'not credible' ruling legally appropriate and firmly rejected on-going appeals by Noreen Renier in 2012? Those rejections brought the total to six of six federal judges having ordered judgments against Renier just since 2006.

Equally odd is that one of five guiding principals from the web site of the The Unity Church of Tucson is “Through thoughts, words and actions, we live the Truth we know.”

Perhaps a better visionary thought? Question those who promote the paranormal and its many delusional participants. Too many now are imbedding themselves in communities by talking a good tale while citing themselves as "doctors" with various medical and scientific degrees.

In turn many across the United States book and/or promote other colleagues with similar titles printed on impressive diplomas from non-accredited 'visionary' schools for just $99 for a PhD degree or $149 when nicely framed under glass with wood and gold trim. And thus local communities get fooled into providing seats for scams or distributing nonsense. Some --- like claims of finding lost children via bogus powers of foresight and interactions with non-existent hired police agencies, or non-existent healing powers --- are dangerous.

My final thought for Tucson area residents, TV stations, and other Tucson media? Its always a good idea to keep your wallets and purses very, very close to you.

Speaking at a church? Isn't that a double-whammy? In addition to the normal "this is a fraud" complaints you want to see if it were happening at a library or something, isn't there also something in the Bible that forbids all this talking-to-the-dead nonsense?

Tuscon does have a couple of newspapers. Maybe a reporter or editor might be interested? Unless the Unity "Church" advertises in it, of course.

My usual complaint. You should have news reports of what she has claimed yet you have not cited any sources outside of your website. At a minimum I expect the newspaper and date of issue where the claims appeared. Currently what you have written is unverified.

Worse this is a duplicate of another thread you started in 2011 here http://www.internationalskeptics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205088. I admit you had only 15 claims then.

If your site is meant to be a primary source then I would expect biographies of the authors. Pity as you are probably right in what you say.

Sadly there are a lot of wooish people in Tucson. I doubt you would get a local paper to do a critical review of her but if you could it would be in the Arizona Daily Star and maybe The Weekly.

A few weeks ago when old what's her face died I had a couple customers lamenting that they would not get to meet her.

Unity Church of Tucson showcases psychic Noreen Renier

As of this week there appears to be some interest by at least one local television station in following this story. No word from anyone connected to the Tucson Skeptics however. Silently considering some options?

It's Arizona. Get her or the IANDS to claim they have a spirit guide and then have Sherrif Joe detain them at the airport as illegal aliens.

We've got a whole slew (slough?) of Arizonans on these boards. Sounds like a good night for a skeptics in the pub... or skeptics in the coffee house.

HERE! HERE!

Happy to host if anyone is interested.

Sheesh! And I was trying to be subtle. :p

Seriously, folks. I did know that Biscuit's got a barista coffee shop nearby, but I wasn't going to offer it out. But a few mid-Arizona skeptics stoked up on caffeinated beverages at a Noreen Reiner speech can only come out good.

If there's a Tucson Skeptics, they could even invite the true-believers over for a "Skeptics In the Coffee House" discussion of the material being presented. If this was happening near me, I'd be all over it.

Well, if they are xtians and sin a lot, they can meet her in Hell.

The Slough of Despond(TM) awaits them!!!:D

THe Unity Church has been around since the 1940's; it preached "New Age" ideas 40 years before they got the "New Age" label.
Not surpriseing in the last they are pushing psychic nonsense.
This serves as a reminder that Christian Fundy woo is by no means the only Religious Woo out there.

I guess what I find surprising is that the Unity Church of Tucson would want to be linked not just with any psychic --- but the biggest "I speak with the dead" medium found not credible by a federal court. And the "psychic detective" rejected for hiring and paranormal work by all 50 State Police agencies, the FBI, NYPD and LAPD across their official investigations.

Subsequently after her "not credible" court ruling Noreen Renier had four additional federal judges agree with the "not credible" ruling against her during multiple failed appeals by Noreen Renier. Has the Unity Church informed its members on these matters?

It's tough to beat Noreen Renier's track record for failing in federal courts the last decade, but apparently the Unity Church of Tucson now compounds the muck by remaining silent on its guest speaker misleading a federal court during sworn testimony.

Apparently the Unity Church of Tucson must have a very unique kind of spiritual membership with a odd sense of honor, truth, and community character traits. Or do they use the escape that they just rent out their facilities and therefore they can remain silent on concerns of truth and honor?

Perhaps they should be asking the same questions others are asking to Noreen Renier. (See http://www.gpinquirygroup.com/gpinquirygroup/Using an alias.html )

Noreen Renier in Tucson & Phoenix, March 12-16

Just a reminder. Orlando based "TV Medium and Police Psychic detective" Noreen Renier soon begins Tucson and Phoenix speaking engagements, ESP workshops, and guest appearances --- all beginning in less than two weeks.

She still refuses to answer questions posted at http://www.gpinquirygroup.com/gpinquirygroup/Using an alias.html

Perhaps some of you will have an opportunity to ask her yourself.

Ms. Renier claims the ability to communicate with trees who act as informants for her. And she testified in a court that she communicates with friendly and unfriendly ghosts.

In a book she claimed to sense visions from a dead horse. And she's also publicly claimed to have entities which help her communicate with the dead.

So why can't she answer the few basic questions asked of her in the present and among the living? Well apparently she's sunk to such a deep hole of spreading exaggerated claims that she can't climb out.

The web site offering the questions she won't answer has skyrocketed in popularity -- http://www.gpinquirygroup.com/gpinquirygroup/Using an alias.html

It appears this web site and its related "sister" sites ( http://www.gpinquirygroup.com/gpinquirygroup/IndepthRenier.html ) now collect 10 to 20 times more U.S. viewers daily than Ms. Renier's own site, and more than 5 to 1 globally over her site on an average day. Hundreds of thousands of views (near 825,000 as of March 2014) in total since the sites were first erected in late 2005. While no longer hitting the daily swings from 220 to 400 views there's consistently more than 40 "real" views even on the slowest days. Pretty amazing.

It is likely her silence is only driving the numbers ever higher.
