Merged Protests disrupt college campuses / Campus Protests

Nope. The protests here on the PSU campus are actively destroying the commons, and aren't sending even a weak message to Israel, because PSU is not meaningfully invested in the Israeli economy. It's all just self-indulgent and anti-social nonsense. And yes, I'm sure they're all chanting the cargo-cult litany to themselves, that vandalizing the school library and canceling classes sends a "very strong message" to Israel.

Penn State U?

...The atttmpsts I have been seeing on some messages boards to proclaim the moral superority of HAMAS are silly. Only reason Hamas not kill ten of thousands of Israleis is they did not have the firepower..

What is an "Israleis"??

What is "atttmpts"???

I always call these kinds of protests "political theater" to try and capture the idea that they don't really know or care about the issues they're protesting, but rather are just being seduced by the feeling that they're making an impact and therefore have some power.

Not sure what you mean when you liken them to the cargo cults.

Students, and potentially other members of the community, have been camping out in front of the library since Friday in protest of the school's philanthropic relationship with Boeing, a company that has supplied arms to Israel.

Seems like a worthwhile agenda to me.

The military industrial complex that helps Israel commit war crimes and genocide must be stopped.

Well here's a thing, while US and SA finally divested in some areas, it sort of worked awhile back.

In this case, it's Israel. Don't see Netanyahu caving to some uppity American college students to change policy. Nor their universities, while claiming that we support free speech. And then some push that to the limits. Others don't.

I don't see how PSU giving Boeing their money back hurts Boeing or Israel. Meanwhile, the vandalism to the library and other campus commons will be a hardship for the students there, and will take longer to correct once the university has less funding.

They don't want their school benefiting from blood money.

Police moving in to Hamilton Hall at Colubmia to roaa out the occupiers.
Protestors have no right to disrupe the life ot other students: Your right to swing your arm ends where my face begins.
And IMHO it is not exactly the best way to get your view across, either.
And is going to get uglier. Sooner or later some group of Mideast nuts will attack American Citiznes or the US itself in the name to Gaza.Reactio of the protestors is going to be interesting.

What amazes me is a situation just as complex as the Israle Palesitnian issue is seen in such simplitics good guy bad guy terms by people on both sides.

And, yeah, it has become the fashinalbe, hip, cool and trendy thing to do to adapt a Anti Israeli position.

The truth is, you believe in the power of empty protests. In the power of Lieutenant Commander Joanne Calloway to strenuously object.

I believe in taking responsibility. Doing the work.

The empty protests worked against the Vietnam war eventually.

And what work could be done in the US? It's a two-party state where both parties would support the policy the protesters are against. So it's not like voting will get their voices heard.

It is amazing how sophisticated the Protests are: they have very good message discipline, will send reporters to speak with their media representatives and refuse to comment themselves.
They enforce a no-drugs policy, knowing what Cops can do if they find drugs during arrests.
They know exactly what they are doing, and how much their opponents want to lie about their motives and actions.

Woe to anyone who opposes the goals of these young adults.

So empty, the people in charge need to send armed enforcers to put them down.
