Protecting Children from Free Speec.. Indecent Programming Act

My parents had a effective means of controlling what I watched on TV as a child, they changed the channel. Of course, the family only had one TV in the house, and that TV only picked up five channels so the problem of what I watched was a little easier then, than the same problem today. :o

I think George Carlin's line explains this the best (although he was talking about radio, it still applies): "There are two knobs on it. One changes the station, the other turns it off completely. Although I can understand their discomfort with anything that has two knobs on it."
 
Here's an idea: fine parents for allowing their children to watch television.
