Proof of Immortality III

Dave,
- Is there a reasonable possibility that I am more than matter?

- Just to reiterate, I am no longer trying to prove immortality -- currently, I am trying to virtually disprove OOFLam.

...
I thought the model where we are not more than matter was H, the one you were trying to disprove.
Dave,
- I don't quite understand your question. The model I'm trying to (virtually) disprove is OOFLam. OOFLam does imply that we are not more than matter.

Dave,
- Is there a reasonable possibility that I am more than matter?
- I probably asked this question before -- but, does anyone here think that there is a reasonable possibility that I am more than matter?

Yesterday.

does anyone here think that there is a reasonable possibility that I am more than matter?

Do not beg the question. The null hypothesis is that humans are no more than matter. You have said you can prove otherwise to a mathematical level of rigor. If you cannot, have the honesty to concede and stop this obvious nonsense.

Yes. If we go by mass then you are also atomic binding energy to a large degree.

Do you see the one mistake you made? Never introduce the word "energy." Energy is where woos love to hide all their magic:

"The system also has energy? Can we detect all energy everywhere? So, there could be energies that haven't been discovered. Then that's my new definition of God. God is an energy flowing all around and through us that humans cannot detect."

Now we're going to spend 40 pages on whether energy is a property of matter.

As opposed to 40 pages on what?

Come to think of it, if the closest reference I have in my head regarding human chemical composition (we are "ugly bags of mostly water") is correct, then we're mostly H and O and probably a bunch of C thrown in there as well. This would mean that - again going by mass - Jabba is not more than matter but less than matter, as the binding energy is positive.

Ok, I think my interest in this thread is dwindling. It was fun while it lasted, I guess, but I doubt anything more will happen anytime soon. I'll check in again in like 2 years (which is what I did last time). See ya in thread 4/5

Non. Just like every human, you are a bunch of chemicals, arranged and interacting in well-understood ways.
