LOL... Most people in the world are very serious about their opinions. It does seem to me that people in other nations often take the US far more serious than we do. Diplomats foreign and domestic could use a little more humor to. I don't like seeing other nations kissing our butts just because they think they need to to be on our good side. Most Americans would love to see the rest of the world prosper and often doesn't understand when our cultural definitions don't make sense to others. So we can be very naive. Everybody is in some way. Some of my own naivety is difficult to overcome at times. There is no need to be hostile or even lose friendships to tell us where to get off.

Even though I consider 90% of what is said about Bush to be BS I do dislike him very much. Reagan bypassed the diplomats and talked to Gorbachev and got something done. Bush wants to work from authority alone. Yes we are free. The exact level of freedom swings back and forth. Remember McCarthy? Unlike McCarthy Bushs' motivations may be good but his approach is atrocious. He'll be gone soon. I just worry about going too far the other way to.

You probably know that. Kids in the Hall too. And Monty Python, a huge hit in the USA, is from the UK.

SNL is an American creation. Just because some cast members were Canadian does not mean Americans can not make fun of themselves. SNL was recruits people from Second City. Second City is an American comedy theater which opened up a 2nd theater in Toronto. SNL also recruits from Improv Olympic, Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade, all American improv theaters.

Monty Python does not make fun of Americans. 1 of the Pythons is in fact American. British comedians are hilarious bitn that does not in any way diminsh American comedians' work. Many American comedians make fun of the US. Air America's original cast is comprised of successful American comedians. NYC & L.A. currently have thriving comedy scenes

All true. But I will give Canada kudos for producing some of the best comedians.
