It's probably not a law.

It does seem to be against ethical guidelines. It's not entirely clear if these were former patients or current patients.

Sexual contact that occurs concurrent with the patient-physician relationship constitutes sexual misconduct. Sexual or romantic interactions between physicians and patients detract from the goals of the physician-patient relationship, may exploit the vulnerability of the patient, may obscure the physician’s objective judgment concerning the patient’s health care, and ultimately may be detrimental to the patient’s well-being.

If a physician has reason to believe that non-sexual contact with a patient may be perceived as or may lead to sexual contact, then he or she should avoid the non-sexual contact. At a minimum, a physician’s ethical duties include terminating the physician-patient relationship before initiating a dating, romantic, or sexual relationship with a patient.

Sexual or romantic relationships between a physician and a former patient may be unduly influenced by the previous physician-patient relationship. Sexual or romantic relationships with former patients are unethical if the physician uses or exploits trust, knowledge, emotions, or influence derived from the previous professional relationship. Good grief. The man was a medical doctor. He knows how babies are made. If he didn't believe she was pregnant why didn't he ask her to take a simple pregnancy test? That's the most ridiculous idea I've ever heard. If you have sexual intercourse with a woman and she later tells you that she is pregnant, why would you doubt that anyway?

Obvious lie is obvious. He told her to get an abortion because he didn't want to be responsible for the baby that would result. That's the only explanation that makes sense.

Why is this a surprise. The present "radical right" is all about "do what I say, not what I do".

At the same time they appeal as the "honest" side, we see things like calling Obama a "socialist", while not admitting that IF Obama is a socialist, then Eisenhower was a flat-out communist (need I point out that the red scare happened in his administration?).

So the fact that this guy sleeps around, encourages an abortion on a woman, all the while arguing against abortion is really not very surprising.
