You got it wrong, hes not a fellow, hes a royal fellow

The council of the Royal Society recommends members of the British Royal Family to be elected and then the existing Fellows vote by a secret ballot whether to accept them.

The society was started by Charles II in order to get solid scientific advice on matters for government concern, so its really an in (royal) house society designed to stop royalty looking stupid. Which is why Charles is a Fellow

I did read the article before responding, I found it contradicted itself and was pretty vitriolic. Thats why I also researched it from other sources before responding. I don't see what your problem is. Its a royal society, created by royalty, yet you don't think royalty should be qualified on that basis alone.

No, read it again. Members of the royal family can be elected by a special procedure but once elected they are fellows like any other. The RS website lists them under the heading Royal Fellows, and who wouldn't? But they subscribe to the same obligation as all the others, an obligation Charles is evidently giving the royal two fingers to.

They don't share their genes with the rest of the worlds population and they only marry people in their own extended family, Queen Elizabeth II for instance married her cousin

I am afraid that having a vocal champion of ideas that I find B*LL*CKS in the Royal Society may be a good thing. If homeopathy or other pseudo scientific therapies are discussed in that arena then the power of peer review will ensure that it either supplies actual evidence or faces the consequence. The same goes for climate change deniers or any other subject I happen to disagree with.

Indeed, and Diana was seen as a radical choice for that very reason. Though things have improved somewhat since the bad old days of the Russian Tsars and heamophillia. But right up to the dawn of the twentieth century a large portion of Europes royals (notably German and Brit) families were directly related. The name Windsor was adopted by our Royals to sound less German when we went to war. But perhaps Inbred was a bit strong, as it does suggest the Innsmouth Taint.
