and what exactly will the bigger firms do. I can imagine procurement departments loving that, no no the cheapest is out, don't worry about those funding cuts though). Utter bollocks.

Sure, but bad lending to one group shouldn't mean we should persue bad lending to another group - the politicians imply that lending is good. It's good if it's responsible lending - it's not if you don't get that money back...the banks aren't lending because they think the risks of not getting their money back are too great. They might be right or wrong, but the rationale behind the decision is the right one...
