Presidential Primaries 2016

...
First of all, your claim quoted above is both unevidenced and weasely-worded (very likely). Second, men often do experience sexism, despite what intersectional feminists would like you to believe. Third, your conclusion does not follow from the premises, since you have not established that people who have experienced sexism will recognise it. It also does not explain why some women support Trump. And fourth, it actually doesn't address the original claim, is that Trump may manage to draw in more people to support him. Saying that doesn't mean that the speaker doesn't recognise Trump's sexism; it only means that other people might not, or that it might be less important to them than other things.

That pretty nicely sums it up...

Ok, let's say that they stop thinking when it comes to politics. I would categorize it as a subset of stupidity. A person might be a educated intellectual when it comes to specific fields, but completely bonkers when it comes to politics. We've seen it many times with woos coming to these boards, possessing PhDs in various subjects and then uttering complete lunacy. I'm willing to bet many of them are Trump voters.

Then we have the roughly half of the population below average intelligence. I'd say we have a good chance of finding 90 to 95 percent of Trump voters there.

I'd agree with most of that....though I think you may be overstating things a tad :)

I'm not underestimating them. I'm scared crapless of them, precisely because they are many and utterly bonkers. It's an army of woos.
While what i say is anecdotal .. the above is false. Not all Trump supporters are dumb or racist, or sexist, or biggoted. They see "something" in him. As far as i am concerned that may be his big promises or bis attitude... or his policy ideas. But we went through all this once before.... in 2008. He is grossly capitalizing on public outrage with the status quo... something thats only magnified since the 2008 elections.

Whether i think the reasons are valid is another matter

The ones I know know he's a buffoon, but they hate Washington so much they're more than willing to set the bull loose in the D.C. china shop and damn the consequences.

We also tend to overinflate the power of the presidency. We've had bad presidents before, and we'll have them again. If Trump wins, it won't be the death of the Republic.

It will probably be the deaths of lots of people, though. Most of them are likely brown though, so maybe it doesn't matter for a Trump supporter.

I agree...of course, I'll be agreeing from a comfortable distance from my new digs in New Zealand... :D

Some are dumb or racist, or sexist, or bigoted or some combination. But just taking the ones that aren't, they have to be in denial of some kind. He says with confidence he can and will do X. OK, but there has to be belief he can do X and the evidence all points to the fact he cannot.

So what kind of person is that if not ignorant? A fool? Someone who just wants to believe?

I suppose there's another category of people that believe the isolationist bully country is what we should be. That's foolish and ignorant.

All the evidence supports the conclusion he not only cannot do what he claims, but that there are dozens of red flags that he'd be a very disastrous if not dangerous POTUS.

So what do we call those Trump supporters that you say are not dumb or racist, or sexist, or bigoted?

Angry?

Then they should attend therapy. Not vote for a bigoted imbecille to be president.

Don't tell me--tell them...then they'll shoot you and claim they were exercising their rights that were gonna be taken away from them... ;)

Maybe that should be in the Democratic party platform: Free anger-management therapy for Trump voters.

The two aren't mutually-exclusive. Being scared is no excuse for not seeking to understand their values and motivations.

They don't think.

I'm sure they say the same thing about you. But just like competing religions, the only way to sort it out is through knowledge, not ignorance. If you can't understand the problem, you cannot solve it.

Explain these deaths to us please. Who will die, how many and in what manner?

When I hear someone use the phrase "brown people" these days I automatically dismiss their argument. This phrase is pulled out when racism is the only answer they can come up with and emotion gets the better of them.

It's an educated guess, based on what Trump says he wants to do if elected president. The people who dies will be the same as always: poor people, people getting bombed, people who can't pay for medicine, people getting gunned down in senseless acts of violence. With Trump in charge, more of these will die than if he isn't in charge.

Maybe you should think about why you care so little about non-whites.

No, it's pulled out when racism is the answer.
