Presidential Primaries 2016

The thing is, I don't have a problem with the 'waffling' charge.

I'm still looking at the most competent candidate, not the candidate the news media favors with the popularity sans gaffes.

No one with HDS does.

I do not understand your post. Wouldn't people with Hillary-derangement-syndrome be obsessed with every flaw she makes including her waffling?

That's because you're looking at it wrong. HDS really is those who are so deranged anything HRC does is great, while excusing all her "misdeeds".

That would not be deranged! That's just paying attention! More of the public is every day! Drip...drip...drip...

From The New Yorker:

A New Clue Suggests Biden May Run

Means at least he hasn't ruled it out yet.

I have no idea what Biden is thinking at this point. If he enters the ring, one of the first things he will need to do is state his position on TPP. There are really no good moves for him there.

If he supports it, he will be trying to get the Democratic nomination while actively pursuing legislation reviled by pretty much every Dem with less than a million dollars in the bank. Unions, activists, pretty much anyone with genuine liberal sympathies is opposed to it. It's just not doable.

If he decides to oppose TPP, he will be a sitting Vice-President actively working to oppose legislation supported by the sitting President. Leaving aside the fact that it would be one of the most nakedly political moves in history, it would be one of the biggest political c**********s in history. The only way I see that working is if he steps down as VP, which has massive problems of it's own.

So you hate Hillary so much that you are prepared to completely redefine words and phrases for your convenience. That is pretty intense hatred. I wonder if there is a way of succinctly describing that hatred.

Definitely hate HRC, proud of it. She is an evil, vile person. As for redefine words, I've done nothing of the sort! Merely using them in a fashion they are better suited to. YMMV.

If "X"DS has for over a decade meant an irrational hatred of X to the point that it makes the hater appear deranged, and you are using the phrase to mean the exact opposite, the claiming that you are not redefining words and phrases sounds a bit...deranged.

if you want to criticize Hillary supporters for being blind to her faults, then perhaps "the cult of Hillary" or "Hillary Adoration Syndrome" or "St. Hillary worshippers" or something else might work. Personally, I'd go with St. Hillary because in each post you can say "patron saint of _______" and fill in the blank with whatever you are criticizing her for.

But saying from now on the word up will mean down is just wacky.

ETA
also, have you thought about starting a "Why Hillary Clinton shouldn't be president thread"? It might be better to discuss these issues in a separate thread.

You seem to be under a FALSE impression that HDS has a formal clinical definition! That's precious, but it does not. The words as they are used in the English language are still being used properly by my definition.

Pro tip: HDS was coined by one politically motivated group, to try and define another.
I'm merely turning it back on them. Perfectly acceptable fair play. That you do not like it, is not a big deal.

For the record: I prefer Shillaries, it has a perfect ring of truth to it!:D

Well, no. I am not. The post mentioned that common usage was widely accepted for over a decade. The post did not claim to be a clinical definition.

That's precious, but it does not.

I don't even like Hillary. The fact that one feels the need to insult people who are not even Hillary fans does add weight to the idea that one might be deranged by one's hatred of Hillary.

At last we agree. It is no big deal that I do not like it. The new definition is confusing whether I approve or disapprove of it.

Again, we come to the same problem. A shill has been defined for over a century as someone who is paid money to give the false impression that he or she is objective. Hillary supporters are not being paid money. Therefore your neologism creates confusion because you are redefining a word to mean whatever you want it to mean.

I tried stoopid and it seemed to work pretty well.

Yes. I saw that story and was rather pissed off.

That's probably the first time I've ever thought of a candidate I liked as completely out of his mind... He made a prior comment about what HE would do in a shooting situation, which while dumb was semi-defensible.... that holocaust comment though doesn't even have that quality. -_-

It's stupid comments like this that forced me to drop him from my own consideration. Well, not "stupid" so much as inaccurate, and that's a problem for someone vying for the POTUS seat... Kind of a big deal... to get very basic historical facts of a major historical timeline messed up. He brought this on himself...

Apparently, he also said he was in a situation when he WAS threatened with a gun....at which time he pointed to the store clerk and suggested the perp really wanted him.

What's mind boggling (besides calling Popeye's an 'organization' :p) is that he didn't seem to think telling a guy with a gun to aim it at someone else was problematic. :boggled:

Agreed.

He's doubling down.

Ben Carson dismissed as “foolishness” a statement from the head of the Anti-Defamation League that disputes the notion that the Holocaust could have been hindered if Jews in Nazi Germany had been allowed to have guns.

Carson, a Republican presidential candidate, refused in an interview Friday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to back down from his assertion in another interview that “the likelihood of Hitler being able to accomplish his goals would have been greatly diminished if the people had been armed.”

MORE ETA:
D'oh. I should have read everything more carefully. While he made the statement in front of Wolf Blitzer on CNN, the statement itself was an excerpt from his new book. He is just out whoring himself for book sales.

I watched Face the Nation today for the first time in decades. What a joke. It was basically free commercial time for Trump and Carson. I seem to remember the host being more than a straight man for his guests. Maybe I'm dreaming. I caught some of the 60 minutes interview with Obama. Much tougher, not necessarily intelligent probing questions but at least Kroft (I think) didn't seem like a paid staffer.

Wasserman Shultz, sees nothing, hears nothing, knows nothing.

Washington (CNN)—Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said she was disinvited from Tuesday night's first Democratic debate after voicing a call for more of them.

Gabbard, the vice chair of the Democratic National Committee, told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Monday on "The Situation Room" she was told her vocal support for more debates had made her "no longer welcome to come to the debate."

Gabbard said the message was conveyed to her chief-of-staff from the chief-of-staff of DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

"The prevailing message of that was that because I continued to call for more debates, that I should not go to the debate in Las Vegas," the Hawaii congresswoman said. "The issue here is not about me saying, 'Boo hoo, I'm going to miss the party.' The issue here is one of democracy and freedom of speech."...

Is it any wonder that establishment politicians are reviled regardless of what flavor of establishment they reflect?

J. Biden update... There is no update.

With the first Dem debate tonight, it really is starting to get kind of late for his entrance. What's he playing at? Fish or get off the pot already.
