I thought I would post this here because it was on CNN today.

Article

In a study involving 748 patients at eight centers slated for catheterizations, patients who, unbeknownst to them, were randomly assigned to be the subjects of multi-faith prayers before their procedures, fared no better than controls (un-prayed for) patients, reported Mitchell W. Krucoff, M.D. of the Duke Clinical Research Institute here and colleagues.

Why Test

The real fallacy is that they tested it at all.

Since it is impossible to set up a controlled experiment, why embark on it.

It proves or disproves nothing. Payer/gods cannot be tested with controlled parameters so what is this?

from the article "fared no better than controls (un-prayed for) patients"

Un prayed for patients?? - really!!

I am a hardcore atheist and all my friends and family are quite aware of this and yet, I could not be in the control group.

Where do you go to find patients in a cardiac situation that are unprayed for - straight to Hell?????
