Ha. They may as well just play the damn thing! Is 5 seconds and a full explanation really any better? And to be honest, if she were still here she'd probably find it funny anyway.

Hmm. Not sure she had that kind of sense of humour TBH. This is a woman who ended up using the first person plural to denote herself ('we are a grandmother') and did not know who or what Monty Python was. It is a wonderful dilemma which exquisitely exposes our fault lines and conflicts about all kinds of things. There is no correct solution.

Just had it pointed out to me that a couple of the papers arguing for press freedom during the recent levenson inquiry were calling for the song to be banned

Not really surprising, it's always the other person's opinion you think should be sanctioned, not your own. This is what happens when lose the plot when it comes to free speech.

What ever happened to "I don't agree with what you have to say, but I will defend your right to say it"?

And the "stiff upper lip" has turned into getting the vapors over an insult.

Funny how censorship and free speech restrictions becomes a double-edged sword.
