I hope one of you is willing to put the table back together again, in its proper form, with the complete, up-to-date list of members and the restoration of their notes.

Otherwise, I'm going to have to take time out of my busy schedule to do it myself, later!!

However, you can have a sign up sheet and such at the forum welcome table... or not.. because you don't want 6 gazillion people. But other than the horse butt it's also a good meet up spot.

Honestly, I would prefer that the group not get too large. I say we cap the trip at a MAXIMUM of 20-25 people. Otherwise, it's going to be really difficult to lead a geo field trip. I think we'll have more fun in a smaller group, too :-).

Relax, Wowbagger. Everything will be fine. Also, the more you tell people (*cough* scrut *cough) not to mess with the table, the more they will :-).

Thanks for putting together a list of people and being willing to rent a vehicle!

Kitten, when you say "shotgun," does that mean you want the front seat, or are you willing to carry a weapon so you can bullseye womp rats or something?

Shotgun means front seat.

Geology terms confuse many people. That's why I do the geology word of the week :-).

Also, my high school "mascot" was-- I kid you not-- a lantern, which is the school logo.

Dartmouth also had a lame mascot-- used to be the Indians, but then realized that was a bit racist. So they had no mascot and were just the "big green." Laaame. Even lamer than a lantern, maybe. I mean green is just a color. A lantern at least could burn you maybe. During my sophomore year, the student body advocated for a mascot, and eventually the college told us we could vote from an approved list. The "Moose" mascot won (I like it!), but then some rich alums complained and the administration canned it. So we were back to the Big Green.

Until... a brilliant person (who was actually a geo major with me) came up with.... Keggy the Keg! Keggy is described as a mascot that is in no way racially, culturally, or sexually offensive yet still completely inappropriate.

I knew someone who's high school Mascot was a pretzel. The town was known for two things: the beer brewery and the pretzel factory. They thought the Brewers wouldn't be appropriate for high school kids, so they went with the Pretzels.

Go Pretzels!
 
My high school mascot was... (I kid you not)... The Purple Wave!

I have no idea what that even means.

ETA: Looks like they changed it to something else, since. Except the swim team still uses the name, which makes sense.

My school didn't have a mascot (still doesn't, as far as I know). Possibly they haven't had time to sort one out; they were only celebrating the 400th anniversary of the founding of the school the year before I started there. ;)
