Post-TAM Tour?

Now that my daughter refuses to take me to the crater, I'm up for the post-TAM trip to Red Canyon. I have been there before, but a trip with a geologist will be, well, "very educational." I will instruct my travel agent to book me a return flight for Monday night.

Yes, I'd be interested in almost anything. I've currently nothing planned for the Monday, and I could also be free on the Wednesday if necessary (I was expecting to be doing volunteer duties, but that's not yet scheduled, and I could do something on other days).

I've been to Vegas nearly a dozen times, but have never gotten out to Red Rock. Count me in! I may to bring along the odd family member or two.

I am up for a pre or post TAM tour. My flight home on Monday night is at a minute before midnight, so I have a whole day free. I get in about 1 pm on Wednesday, so unless it is a Thursday morning thing (and I don't do workshops) my pre-TAM tour possibilities are limited.

I'm definitely free on the Wednesday now, no packet stuffing to be done.

Bummer about that.

But, we can always stuff a bunch of ourselves into a couple of vehicles, and toss ourselves to one of those locations, anyway. We don't actually need Jeff.

So, who wants to go to Red Rocks? I might have a rental car. If there are only a few of us, we might fit in there. If there are more, we can rent something else, like a bus or van or limo or something, for the trip.

Kitten, or any other geologists, are welcomed to lead some sort of geology tour, if they are willing.

I'll probably be up for an excursion somewhere.

Too bad about Jeff not making it, though.

Perhaps we can start a table for those who are interested:

If you would like to lead a geology or other tour, please indicate so in the notes.

Hey folks-- if people are willing to drive, I could do a Red Rocks tour either Thursday (my flight gets just after 11am) or on Sunday or possibly Monday morning (my flight leaves 3:30 pm on Monday).

I've led two geo tours to Red Rocks before. I haven't been there in a couple of years, but I'm sure I can figure it out, and I have a field guide.

Oh- and the tour is free, but I will accept donations of surlies, cool skeptical books, and/or drinks at the Del Mar bar :)

Does Sunday afternoon work for folks? I worry about flight delays on Thursday. Monday morning (early) could also work-- maybe someone could drop me off the airport?

Thanks, Kitten!

It's amazing how full and jam-packed the TAM schedule is going to be, this year, for each of those days! If anyone wants to "do it all", there is no time for side-trips, anymore.

And, I am tempted to be one of those people. However....

I am willing to put this "up to vote". We'll see if we can come to some sort of census, and I will likely follow it - in spite of what my own preferences might have been.

My personal preference would be in the afternoon on Thursday, perhaps after Kitten checks in and unwinds for a bit. (I might do an indoor skydiving thing that morning, anyway). But, we MUST be back in time for the 7 PM reception.

My second preference would be after the last official session on Sunday. (Sara E. Mayhew, which ends at 11 am, according to the schedule. This happens AFTER the paper presentations.)

I am still willing to rent a car. (Though, I have not reserved it, yet.)

Those who are serious about joining us for Red Rocks, please add your name to the chart below. (Scrut, stay out of it, unless you really do wish to join us.)

WARNING: It will very likely be quite hot down there. Bring stuff to keep yourself cooool.
