I am working on some logos, an d I need need to save them as .png for the transparrncy, but have not been able to do it while keeping the transparency intact when using Photoshop CS.

Does anyone have any hints?
 
I'm using CS2 but I would just go to "Save for Web" which will take you to ImageReady and save from there.

Just a thought are you checking the saved pngs in Internet Explorer? If so be aware that IE 6 doesn't support pngs very well, it will only correctly display 8 bit pngs with transparency.

You shoudlnt really bother with any fancy code to make PNG files work properly in IE. If they dont display properly for people then they are more likely to upgrade to a better browser such as firefox or opera :D
 
You don't even need to make them .PNGs if all you care about is transparency...I've done it with .GIFs, .JPGs, etc. In fact there was a Windows program that could do it, but I think they stopped shipping it starting with XP (photo viewer or some such).

You've done JPGs with transparency? That's a new one on me. The point is that JPG is lossy, and gif is 8-bit colour. PNG suffers neither of these problems.

I could be mistaken, been awhile......maybe it was just .GIFs
 
You cant do transaprency with JPG, only PNG and GIF. PNG has an advantage because it has a alpha layer for transparency, unlike gif its not an on or off feature, you can fade and put shadows in etc.
 
I did however, hear about something that the people who invented png were working on that did allow transprency in jpegs.
Can anyone confirm this? If not i'll go hunting around on google
