It was referring to the Christian morality police in this country who think women and gays should not have access to anything the moral police decide is sin.
It would appear the bastard Repub who represents my district (Dave Reichert) is not on the list. I'm not surprised.
His campaign lie which he pushed at the last minute was an ad about how he supported something or other for women and that was the proudest day of his life. He knew his anti-abortion stand was not helping him here. We are a Repub island in a blue county. Man do I hate that guy even more.
This is going to hurt him next time. I'm going to make sure of it. I'm going to start planning the drop Reichert campaign real soon.
Look how odd, two Republicans from IL voted no and two Democrats from IL voted yes.
Of course it's not possible in your mind the employee was really trying to help the girls? Like getting them into the clinic where someone could help them?
Have you even thought about how ridiculous the charge is? What could possibly motivate a women's health care worker working in a women's right to health agency to help a pimp?
Well in that case, I don't know if Reichert's parents ever married, but I can confirm he has his mom on his payroll. He takes credit for solving the Green River Murder case even though Gary RidgwayWP, the murderer, managed to kill 49 women, many when Reichert was on the case and Ridgway wasn't arrested until Reichert became police chief and had been off the case for 4 years. Richert had interviewed Rigway and the task force even followed him for a while but Ridgway managed to kill for many more years before DNA collected earlier was finally tested and connected him to the case. He pled guilty to the 49th murder only yesterday.
I don't fault Reichert for not getting Ridgway, but I do fault Reichert for bragging that he caught Ridgway. This man votes against women's interests and it's hard to forget that the reason the Green River Murderer was able to kill for so long is he killed women few people cared about, least of all the police.
And I fault Reichert for this hypocritical campaign ad that is disgusting to watch considering he has voted against health care and against anything remotely supporting women's health:
I think we can make an ad juxtaposing this lie against his Congressional record.
As for the reason PP is being attacked, the Repubs couldn't have successfully created the current lie they've created without the video. They tried the same thing a while back (different players) when someone who worked at one of the clinics for 8 years quit and claimed all sorts of lies about PP promoting abortions because they made money. It was utter nonsense. The publicity faded given the charges were false and could not be substantiated.
According to Johnson, abortions were the most lucrative service the clinic provided, costing between $505 and $695 and bringing in around $10,000 a month. “For them there’s not a lot of money in education,” she said. “There’s as not as much money in family planning as there is abortion.”
Johnson has no evidence to support her claim that the clinic promoted abortions,
It's ludicrous. They are not a for profit agency and work hard to prevent abortions, not to make money off them. And abortions account for only 3% of the services PP provides. Lying for Jesus is quite the fad when it comes to fighting sin.
The current charges are also false but the timing is convenient because of the budget amendment votes.
Gag, I've had to think about Reichert and injustice heaped upon women. I need a beer.
You still don't get it. I can't freaking believe this.
The employee did nothing wrong. She heard of a bad situation and reported it after the guy was gone. Which is precisely what she should have done.
Only on Planet Bizarro should she have done anything different.
Do I need to remind you that the worker thought there were other girls that needed help? Do I need to explain it with the aid of hand puppets that blowing up at the pimp wouldn't help the other girls?
How is it that you continue to not understand this?
What I don't understand is why deeptrax supports this. He claims to pro-choice, but this video and subsequent house vote has done nothing but hinder the options for women to choose from.
Even if you take a strict black-and-white law and order stance on this, they still did the right thing in order try to help the fictional underaged prostitutes and reported the guy to the FBI. Why support this?

And let's not forget which group of women it has the potential to hurt.
Some numbers:
Current as of February, 2011
• Number of women, men, and adolescents worldwide provided with sexual and reproductive health care and education by Planned Parenthood each year: more than 5,000,000
Percentage of Planned Parenthood health care clients
• age 20 and older: 79
• with incomes at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level: 75
• who receive services to prevent unintended pregnancy: 83
• who receive abortion services: 12
• Estimated number of unintended pregnancies averted by Planned Parenthood contraceptive services each year:
612,000
• Estimated number of abortions averted by Planned Parenthood contraceptive services each year: 291,000
• Percentage of all Planned Parenthood health services that are contraceptive services: 35
• Percentage of all Planned Parenthood health services that are abortion services: 3
• Percentage increase in Planned Parenthood men clients from 2000 to 2009: 103
Planned Parenthood statement: "the employee in the video behaved in a repugnant manner that is inconsistent with our standards of care and is completely unacceptable."
You should quit arguing with me and go argue with PP...
It's amusing to me...you people are literally arguing that when a person approaches you and asks you to help them cover up their crime, you should just go along with it!

Most of us don't agree with PP firing the employee. But there's a difference between not managing the situation competently and the BS motives being claimed that the employee intended to aid and abet a pimp and underage prostitution.
You seem bent on believing the crap that the sin police spew out. As a medical provider, I make decisions based on the entire patient situation. If you could make those decisions based on a one size fits all algorithm, then there would be no need for a decade of university education and my years of experience. I could have just learned a few physical exam techniques and use my little algorithm book to treat patients. Is that all you want your health care provider to do for you?
I can't get across in a post how ignorant that is and how angry I get when people with zilch in the way of medical education, knowledge or experience think they can judge a situation like the one in the video and declare they know what the health care worker should have done. Do you, deep, have any medical education, knowledge, experience? Have you treated underage prostitutes for STDs and made any of the numerous difficult decisions one must make weighing one problematic outcome against another equally problematic outcome?
The sin police would have the public believe these real life situations are easily dealt with. Throw the sinners in jail and they will all learn to behave. If you treat an STD you are facilitating sin, the STD is God's punishment, don't interfere. If God created a life in the womb of a 12 yr old raped by her father, God wants that life.
This kind of ignorant dogmatic view of the world is not an exaggeration. This is what these people believe, it is what they promote, it is the basis they use to judge.
A nurse practitioner or physician at planned parenthood has the priority of doing the best thing for the patient. These dedicated medical providers are not there to act as sin police. The providers are not there to search for undocumented foreigners by checking Green Cards. They did not spend years acquiring education and experience so they could spread the word of God to sinners.
The sin police have no business, and no right to interfere just because they believe they are on their pitiful dogmatic mission to do God's bidding.
And even if the employee had done something wrong, that has not one thing to do with the organization itself. The ignorance it takes to think that a video of one employee represents any organization is mind boggling.
When someone asks you to help them cover up a crime, do you:
A) help them
B) don't help them
C) help them, but call the police
D) don't help them and call the police
I pick D
there was nobody there claiming they needed a life-saving abortion...there was no urgency to provide the "underage prostitute" with immediate care.
It's not the abortion assistance I have an issue with...again, I'm pro-choice...it's the employee willingly, and to me nonchalantly, trying to help someone cover up a crime which she believed true.
SkepticGinger, I don't need a medical education to know you don't willingly offer to help someone break the law.
