Pilots fear threats from chem-trailers

Seriously? Either you think it's way too easy to acquire such paraphernalia or you think way too highly of the abilities of CTers

Fitz

There's an old story about the guy who had a flat tire outside the insane asylum. He goes to change the tire, and there's an inmate watching him through the fence. The driver very carefully puts the lug nuts into the hubcap, but as he's coming back with the spare, he steps on the hubcap, and the lug nuts go flying out into the weeds. There's no way he's going to find them. "Now what am I going to do?", he says to himself.
The inmate says: "Use one lug nut off each of the other three wheels, and drive slowly until you can get to a gas station."
"Say, that's a really good idea!",the driver says. "Why would they put you in the asylum?"
"Oh, I'm in here because I'm crazy, not because I'm stupid."

CTists believe what they believe because they want to believe it, not because they're necessarily stupid. That doesn't rule out their being stupid, of course.
They didn't reason themselves into the position, they found a position they liked, and found bits and pieces here and there that confirmed their bias.
Since they didn't reason themselves in, you can't reason them out again, and that comes across as "stupid". But it's not necessarily so.
