PetSmart caved?

I did see some red and green Oreos in the Supermarket.

These aren't Christmas Oreos.

They aren't even Holiday Oreos.

They're "Wintertime Oreos".

The real question is: Are they avoiding using the word "Christmas" because they don't want to lose sales to non-Christians, or because they're more afraid of controversy by Al Sharpton-like clods making a stink over the word "Christian" being on a product?

The first is a proper calculation for a company to make. The second is bad, and I support a counter-stink being made.

I don't give a damn about "Christmas" vs. "Holiday". The word "Christmas" does not offend me. It does bother me, however, that these AFA guys got people to write to PetSmart to order them to use the word Christmas, and PetSmart raced to appease them.
Refreshing.

It is rather silly (as is the AFA from what I gather) - but IMO no sillier than people having a major hissy about some gov't building in Alabama having the 10 commandments in front of it. The horror.

ie it's really a PC thing, an idiocy which knows no religious bounds.

Um, no. There's quite a difference between a private business doing what it likes, and a publicly-funded government institution doing the same.

Every American should have a hissy about that. Many don't, but they should.

I see where you're going, but from a PC perspective (which was my point), no, there is none whatsoever. ie both are ridiculously overblown.

If they started implementing or pushing for prejudicial/exclusively "Christian" laws, ie that discriminate against other religions or beliefs......THAT is truly mixing religion and politics and worth a hissy. A freakin block of granite with radical stuff like "don't kill, don't steal" in front of the building isn't. It's not like it even said "if you're not Christian you are evil and we're against you" or some such.

This is like crying about Leiberman wearing a yarmulke during some Congressional hearing. waaah.

Would you argue the same way if the courthouse had Scientologist screeds (I imagine they'd be pleas for money) on the lawn?
