Personal assaults on Obama

I'm keeping my eye on this however. It brings to mind, as mentioned in that article, the Swiftboat attacks on Kerry.

From the link:
Smith said the ad campaign pays no heed to political affiliation, and the organization describes itself as nonpartisan and says its focus is on protecting intelligence agents and special operations officers, not on politics.

Yet, they're spending a million dollars running this ad. In swing states. During the election. More than a year after Bin Laden was assassinated.

I saw that last night, it's certainly out there.

I'm keeping my eye on this however. It brings to mind, as mentioned in that article, the Swiftboat attacks on Kerry. One of Kerry's strength was in his military service and Obama's includes killing OBL. Kerry strength was negated with the Swiftboat lies and I suspect they hope they can do the same with Obama.

I expect this to get legs over the next few weeks.

Wow... it is this short of **** which has led me to have little more than utter contempt for the modern Republican party.

To steal a phrase from the late Ronald Reagan: "I didn't leave the Republican party, the Republican party left me."

Oh yeah, and they aren't revealing the source of funding behind the ad. Real "honorable" work there, soldier boy

Also, one has to wonder what the right-wingers would be saying if the mission to get OBL went wrong and failed. Would they blame the armed forces and "all the people who worked over the years to get OBL" or would they blame President Obama?

I remember when Clinton was first elected president. At the time, I was monitoring our local fundamentalist radio station, KKLA. The vitriol they launched against Clinton really appalled me. Their attitude was "How dare this liberal get elected president?" There was no sense of accepting that more people voted for the other guy than voted for your candidate, and their hatred of Clinton was rabid.

However, that's nothing compared to the crap leveled at Obama, latest of which is revealed in a new thread on this twit from the rock group Megadeath accusing Obama of staging the shootings at the Sikh temple and in Texas. Obama has been accused of being a secret Muslim and of not being born in the territorial U.S. and hence no having the right to be president, among other things. It's one thing to oppose his policies and want him out of office. It's quite another to accuse him of being a crypto-Muslim.

So, I'm wondering what the cause of all this is. Is it just the steadily devolving nature of the religious right producing ever more shrill and irrational statements, or is it sub rosa racism? Does anyone have any ideas?

First off, to be clear, I'm not equating racism (which I believe is behind a certain amount of anti-Obama rhetoric) and simple partisan politics, but living in the S.F. bay area while schrub Bush was POTUS, you could hear just as much invective aimed at him as you do about Obama today, and our local left hand radio show hosts beat almost the same drum against Bush as the right handers do today about Obama.

I don't think you understand leadership. Good leaders shoulder the responsibility for failures of subordinates but pass credit for successes onto their subordinates. Leadership 101.

And President Obama has done just that. He has given credit to the special forces team which killed OBL on numerous occasions. You and other right-wingers simply choose to ignore that inconvenient fact.

Prior to giving credit, count the number of times he says "I" or some variant.
The timing of the announcement was intended for his own benefit, not the nation's. He gave no credit whatsoever to the previous administration who laid the groundwork. Military people saw the announcement for what it was, which was self-serving. Like I said, leadership 101.

I'm not going to make friends with this opinion, but I agree with the sentiment expressed by the operators - I would choose not to have any operational details revealed other than proof of OBL's death. Not by any politican. Leave the after action report and the lessons learned for the professionals involved, and twenty or thirty years down the road tell the tale to the general public

A note about the "Swiftboating."

In interviewing individual troopers about their experiences in a specific battle found that troops as close as a fighting hole away could have different recollections of an incident from one another - and that was interviewing them as soon as possible after the actual battle took place.

I don't know what Kerry's story truely is - officers have a completely different access to awards and decorations than enlisted/NCO troops do, and one of my friends made the point that he spent more time in surgery and rehab at the hospital in Bien Hoa on his second PH than Kerry spent in country.

My friend spent a total of three tours in VN, two in the Airborne Infantry, one in the LRRP's all during the hottest years of the war and was less decorated than Kerry, and iirc Kerry was in country for three-four months.

Thank you for acknowledging the fact that President Obama has, and continues to give, credit to the soldiers involved in killing OBL.

Now we can move on.

I wouldn't move on just yet; I'm willing to bet we hear more prior to the election about how Obama and his team took out Bin Laden.

You still don't get leadership. It's not joint credit; good leaders totally deflect credit away from themselves and onto subordinates. But may as well move on, I don't think you'll ever understand what leadership takes.

I'm sure the right-wing noise machine will attempt to "swiftboat" President Obama on this as well.

Good luck with that :)

Aww, stop it. You're hurting my feelings :(

Dave Mustaine used to be a heroin addict. He weaned himself off opiates using batspit craziness.
Hahaha. It's quite telling that the guy was at his most lucid and sanest when he was a heroin addict. :boggled:

Megadildo is the lead singer's nickname. :D
:newlol :newlol

Every time Dave Mustaine opens his mouth, the feces that come out are crazier and kookier than the last time. I don't know how he does it, but some how, he manages to make my jaw drop every time.

I'm glad Megadeth has sucked in the past years, that way I don't have to support their crazy-ass frontman with my money. **** Megadeth and **** Mustaine. He always says crazy BS but this time it's offensive really, just plain disrespectful to the victims of the shooting.
