PDA blues...

Instead of starting a new topic, can I use this topic to ask some questions about Palm OS PDAs?

My brother offered to sell me his Clie NX60 for cheap. I've been considering it. But If I do, I want to add the wireless expansion card that gives it wi-fi B capability. I have a wi-fi G network running in my home, so a couple questions...

Does anyone know if the Clie wireless card allows for WEP encryption to be used? I have that enabled in my network right now, but I'm having a hard time finding the literature for the card.

Also, can I use any kind of "sniffing" program to find wireless hotspots, say at coffee shops, and hotels, etc? Does it come with one? I can't seem to find any on-line.

Finally, does any one use any multi-client chat programs they recommend? I found a free jabber client, and pay multi-client. I'm looking for something similar to Trillian for the Palm, if you have any recommendations, I would love to hear it...

Thanks.

I have the best wife in the world!

We're getting ready to get her a new computer and, in the process, we're going to put together a wireless network with broadband router and all that yumminess.

By the best wife in the whole wide world wants me to get a new PDA that will integrate with the network and will stop my incessant whining about my m505!

So, I'm starting here.

i have a Palm Tungsten T-3 on my list of things to get (it's currently below ram for my PowerBook and a pair of Diva Swan M-200 speakers). i used to have an iPaq 3955, but it was too bulky and the OS was bloated. the fact that the scren wasn't quite good enough for eBook reading, imo, and i have an iPod with calendar and adress book capability were the reasons that i sold it. the new PocketPC's have neat form factors, but i don't really like the OS and the T-3's expandable screen is amazing, especially for reading eBooks in landscape mode.

The T-3 (or a Zodiac) is on my wish list too, for the same reason - I want to read e-books in landscape mode with the wide screen.

The Bluetooth capability on the recent Palms (it started with the TT, I think) is definitely a nice feature also. I just installed a Bluetooth dongle on my laptop, so can now sync my Palm from anywhere in the house and do wireless internet via my cell phone with either laptop or Palm. I feel like such a geek . :D

yeah, having bluetooth built in my laptop makes the the bluetooth on the T-3 very desirable.
