He was looking eerily from under his eyebrows, with his eyes suspiciously shifting left and right, as if he expected to be splattered by a giant fly swatter any second.

Also saw Lurch speak again today. He has these deep-set eyes with a goodly forehead overhang, and when he's top-lit on the speaker's platforms, as he usually is, his eyes disappear into two big black shadows ... in combination with the phony deep senatorial voice he's affected lately, this gives a totally weird effect, like he's Darth Vader's long lost cousin. I frequently wonder if his or Bush's handlers ever tell them the things that make them look bad.

I woke up to a some claps of thunder and a snow storm. Heck, yesterday there were earthquakes. By 2 in the afternoon, the snow had stopped and was well on the way to being melted.

No sooner had I asked for the recipients of Hurricane Ivan to send some rain our way than my area got slapped with a massive (by Australian standards- don't mean to belittle the Hurricane sufferers) thunderstorm. 123mm! I can't remember the last time I saw rain like that. Apparently it was a 'super cell'. Don't know what that is, but it sounds impressive. Only hit my area, too. Makes you think, huh?
