Passing out religious tracts.

Bob Smith's flyers are hilarious! I love Heaven is Awesome and What is Faith.
Will definitely make some up for next time I get one of THOSE knocks on the door.

Apparenlty Surf control tells me that Normal Bob Smith is Adult/Sexually Explicit

I found Chick tracts in the men's room at work a couple of times. If the paper were only a little softer, that would have been a good thing.

My favorite tracts date from my days as a neo-pagan. The Aquarian Tabernacle had a couple of good anti-tracts about "The Other People" (those not descended from Adam & Eve) and "Heathens Idolize School Prayer" (in which proselytizers go to a family of worshippers of the Norse pantheon to preach the idea of school prayer. The pagans are all for it, and hilarity ensues.) It doesn't look like they're available anymore, though. I still find the ideas presented in them worthwhile--who decides which prayer is acceptable, that sort of thing.

Slightly OT: How do you all feel about defacing Gideon bibles in hotel rooms? I tend to either (1) place a Gideon Exposed (evolvefishdotcom) sticker inside or (2) chuck it in the hallway. My brother likes to cut out tranny sex ads from local rags and gluestick them at crucial verses (a step up from him using the bible pages as TP and chucking them in the trash). We both piss off my semi-catholic boyfriend, understandably.
I'm going to join the piling on over this one. I don't go out of my way to offend people whose beliefs I disagree with, and as somebody else said, you are damaging property that isn't yours: Not cool.

Besides, when I'm in a strange city, jet lagged, tired as hell but not able to sleep, I find the Gideon Bible to be an excellent sleep aid. I'm sure this is not the use the people who placed them there had in mind, but what the hey.

Kurious_Kathy: I'd be really interested to hear your opinions on these flyers too...

Seriously - check these out, they're hilarious... I carry these round in my car... (I haven't quite had the guts to hand these out to anyone yet though)

Funny story - I showed these to a collegue at work (she's a woo, but really anti-religion). Somehow her 5 year-old grandson ended up with one of them and apparently, completely without any prompting, he ran up and handed it out to someone when they were walking down the beach one day...

I think Bob Smith better repent is what I think!

And the woman in the you tube video is right, "Jesus is Lord." If I'm going to give out tracts it's not going to be something filled with lies. The Bible is truth and God's word does not return to him void.

Why don't you check out this one called "Father's Love Letter" http://www.atsdirect.org/epages/ats...705f9/Product/View/41668?AD=Bestsellers_41668
just scroll down a bit on the page and read this one which is one of my favorite tracts!

I did find something accurate in a Gideon Bible once, in a motel in Ely, Nevada: someone had written "Isaiah 28:20" inside the cover. I looked it up and what I found was absolutely accurate.

There wasn't any water pressure in the shower, either.

He did repent, Kathy. He repented of following a death cult that mandates abuse of people for whom they love, he repented of pursuing a mob mentality that promotes hate for people who disagree. Considering what most of us have endured at the hands of "faith," don't you think that most of us have also repented of continuing to follow this insidious lie?

And don't even try that misuse of the Bible drivel with people here. Considering most of the atheists here have a better grasp of the Bible than even your pastor, I'd strongly suggest you reconsider that plan of action. Considering you refuse to honestly honor your promise to Hokulele, yet one more lie from you, I find it perverse that you are demanding we read this tract you're so fired up about.

Sorry. No go. You FAIL.

ETA: Just read the "love letter." More picking and choosing from scripture. Nice try. If you want to read a lot of cherry picked tripe, knock yourself out. Most of us have better things to do.

HA! Nice...

So the bible really can predict the future...

I take tracs from anyone who would hand one to me. I find them facinating. The whole woo of it is just amazing.

I have a ton of Chick tracs, (he's the one who got me started collecting), but the best trac comes none other than Linden Larouche. Yes. Him.

My college was very very close to his home base and his ...uhm..."minons" would come over to our college to try get people to join his cause/religion/policital affilication. My personal favorite trac was one that was headlined: "Why support ugliness?" (with a copy of a Picasso painting under it) "When you can have beauty?" (with a copy of a Jesus Renasance painting under that text) and the words "It's time for a NEW RENASSANCE" blazed across the bottom.

I found it very amusing...... :)

How long does something have to be before it ceases being a tract?
I've (twice now) gotten small paperback books that are basically really long tracts that were mass mailed to everyone in my apartment complex.

There is a little old hispanic man who rides up and down Oak Ridge Road on his bicycle handing out Chick tracts. He's yet to give me one I've never read before, yet, though.

My now deceased grandfather used to hand out non-Chick tracts constantly. He worked as a security guard, and they'd basically change where they put him every week, because he would really get on every one's nerves by preaching to them the entirety of his 8 hour shifts...

OK - so he's an evil unrepentant sinner, but even you've got to agree that this is a great idea:

I mean it's the perfect solution to everything you keep talking about, right? No Satan, no temptation, no evil.
