Well, I was looking at Broun's website, my goodness he's been a busy beaver introducing lots of bills.

One to help small businesses, which might conceivably make sense, though I wouldn't bet on it since it has his name on it. One to replace all taxation with a single retail sales tax, I'm sure that's not original.

But he seems to concentrate more on social issues. Here's all the rest of his bills:

* The P.L.E.D.G.E. act, to make it illegal for children to pledge allegiance to the flag in any language but English. At the moment, Georgia is terrorized by small children declaring their loyalty in Serbo-Croat.

* A Marriage Protection Act to ... guess what marriage needs protecting from, anyone? Yes, that's right, it needs protection from people getting married. In particular, people in California, which he mentions about a jillion times more often than he mentions Georgia.

* The "IMPROVES E-Verify Act", to help sniff out illegal aliens, another huge problem in his part of Georgia.

* The "English as the Official Language Act of 2008", in case Georgians wake up one day speaking Welsh.

* The "LIMITS Act", to prevent Iranian diplomats from travelling more than half a mile from the UN building. I'm not making this up. Georgians will be able to sleep soundly in their beds knowing that they'll be unmolested by Iranian diplomats.

* The aforementioned "Military Honor and Decency Act" to ensure that "our troops should not see their honor sullied" by "Playboy and Penthouse". Call that sullied? I could show him sullied.

* The “Sanctity of Human Life Act”, legislation "which declares that human life begins at fertilization and is vested at that time with a Constitutionally protected right to life". Because you can change the Constitution by passing a law.

* The "Local Law Enforcement Restoration Act of 2007" to ensure that local laws about illegal immigrants trump federal laws.

* The "Charlie Norwood Clear Law Enforcement for Criminal Alien Removal (CLEAR) Act of 2007".

He sounds like a nice man, I'd like to crack a bottle of beer with him, or possibly vice versa.

Sheesh, what's the point of being a Congressman if you're going to prat around like that? Couldn't he do something useful like lie in front of a door and function as a draught excluder?
