Papers Please

So just 'second class' citizens.
That's OK then.

I never said it was "OK." It's a bad situation that needs addressing. Those Citizens deserve all the rights that I enjoy. But, as I noted, it's been happening for a long time over many Administrations. This isn't a Trump-specific problem and Trump isn't going to order ICE to start rounding up all brown people, citizen or not.

I used to live in San Diego which has an estimated illegal population of 170,000. I can't imagine the damage that would be done if they were all deported. I, personally, like people, and think they should be able to go anywhere they want to. Not just where big governments decide they're allowed to

She was charged and convicted of a felony in 2008 for using a fake SSN to work. That was her only crime.

I'm amused, in a morbid sense, at the conservatives' general talk about the importance of hard work. Sometimes, it's a virtue second only to a love of Jesus.

Now here's a woman who took several potentially significant risks just to work, to provide for her family, but that's bad, because she hadn't received a stamp of approval first.

I have a low opinion of this type of post. It's an empty rant, so vague that it communicates nothing. I suggest that you point out with specificity what you take issue with, and why.
That wasn't my post that you quoted but I certainly agree with the sentiments. Here is exactly what I take issue with:

SOme American citizenes are going to be swept up on the grounds that "anybody with a brown skin and a Hispanic surname Is probably a wetback.
There are going to some interesting legal complacations arising out of this.

The response of the Trumpets just reinforces my belief that hatred and bigotry is the driving force behing the hardcore of the Trump movement.

What would probable cause even look like?
"I saw the suspect eating a taco."

They looked Mexican

I have no problem deporting illegal aliens. What I have a problem with is citizens and legal residents being harassed based on the color of their skin.

No. Brown people aren't going to be harassed simply because they are brown and they look like wetbacks. It's just pure, politically motivated fearmongering.

All I'm saying is that we aren't going to have to go around showing papers to officials just because we are brown. The ICE raids in Austin, for example, didn't ensnare my son, uncle, cousins, etc who all live there. Suggesting that these kinds of enforcement actions are a sign of future problems for brown Americans is FUD.

The moment after I or any of the brown people I know gets hassled for papers, you will hear it here first.

I'm afraid this comes across as even more in the "I'm alright, Jack" camp. As long as you and no-one you know are affected then you don't mind?

I'd also like to note that the instances of US Citizens wrongly detained and/or deported have been happening since way before Donald Trump even thought of running for President. This isn't a Trump-specific problem.

I think it might be. Just a little bit.

Because we have some compassion....

And I suspect you have "issues" with Hispanics.

And why do I suspect by "Our" you mean White Europeans?

Similarly, I suspect the deported mom's purpose in having kids was to anchor herself in the country. Suspicions are fun!

Or a human being with the natural instinct to reproduce

Would you start a family if you were living in a country illegally and could be deported at a moment's notice? I don't think you can be more irresponsible than playing with the lives of potential children just to satisfy some urge.

If everyone waited for the perfect time to have children, no-one would ever have any.

Biology doesn't ask if now is convenient, it just happens. Sometimes accidents just happen. Sometimes, and I'm not sure that this is true cos it sounds mental to me, it's not easy to obtain contraception.

Why are you so very keen to believe the worst?

White identity politics FTW!

Where did I say that?

Why? Is walking around without identification a crime? Do these people deserve to be punished for not having papers?

It's not a crime, but I personally always carry a driver's license. I know of no one that deliberately walks around with no ID. There's just too many things you need it for.

Well, a lot of people here do about their fellow members. Instead of arguing in good faith, or considering that their fellow members might have a legitimate concern about a hypothetical law-breaker rendering himself immune to a legal remedy by having children, they instead simply accuse those fellow members of being racist.

I, personally have no intention of starting a family anywhere. However, most people do. Planned Parenthood can help with timing, feasibility etc

I went without a picture ID for two years. I even rented cars and boarded flights. Pre 911.

A friend of mind hasn't possessed an ID in several decades.

Waiting for a time when you're not at risk of being deported isn't waiting for "the perfect time".

It's incredibly easy to obtain contraception.

I'm not. I was playing with the word "suspect". I don't know why she had kids. If I was in a legal limbo situation like that, I personally wouldn't do it.
