"My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that… "

Shocking.

Cute. Leave this genuine, misunderstood woman alone please. She has a right to whatever and stuff!

Did "the media" really misrepresent her as she claims? I can't claim to have done a random sampling of the media but all the reports I saw said she made one or two mistakes, got it right the rest of the time. None that I saw claimed this was anything other than a slip of the tongue.

Of couse, some of her "handlers", have some things to say about her knowledge of the Koreas two years ago.

It doesn't take a genius to tell Palin ain't the brightest bulb in the store.

Her becoming President of the United States would be an embarrassment beyond belief.

We would be the laughing stock of the industrialized world.

Hey look, I can make a similar highlight reel of misstatements, verbal gaffes, and sheer idiocy from Sarah Palin, and I only need one YouTube link to do it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YxAO7cH-xrE

I do agree that it's silly to make an issue out of the North/South Korea slip, which was clearly an honest mistake, when there are so many clearer examples of Palin's lack of knowledge or understanding about the world.

It's amazing to me that people still want to pretend there's no difference between verbal gaffes and actual intelligence.

I think the problem is that the media won't report anything that any political figure says if it takes more than 9 seconds.

A candidate could give a lengthy, erudite, analysis on a topic of interest, and it would be met with a yawn and no one would ever know that it had happened, but if that candidate includes one statement that sounds wrong out of context, it will be all over the news. Likewise, a candidate could issue a speech or position paper that is just utterly stupid, but if it has a catchy slogan, they could score some really good points in the tracking polls.

Of course, I implied the problem is "the media" not reporting it, but the media is just giving the public what the public demands. We have met the enemy, and they are us.

I haven't read the book referenced here but there does seem to be some legitimate concern about her knowledge of the difference between North and South Korea.

Did you mean to say that they misunderepresent the gerbil giraffes?

I suppose they could be an indication of some kind of audio dyslexia, if I can assume such a variant to the system does exist. And I also would assume that it is not necessarily connected to intelligence or judgment. And it also may be tied to a mind that works too fast for the vocal enters to keep up?

I'll bet there are studies out there somewhere that look at malapropisms vs brain disorders. They would need to have been done pre-BushII to avoid bias.

Perhaps when politicians slip up on the number of states, they are inadvertantly demonstrating they are part of a conspiracy to grant statehood to Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, the District of Columbia, and also to conquer Cuba and St Pierre and Miquelon and make them states!

And Kenya. He thinks that Kenya is a state, which makes him eligible to run for president.

Well, sure, but it's too late to warn them now. They know now that Obama is a teabagger Manchurian Candidate, but they all thought he was the Second Coming of Karl Marx during the election. And ethnic too. The perfect way to break their voting cherries. So millions of leftist-indoctrinated college kiddies rushed out to make their first appearance at a voting booth. And now, probably their last. Because the itty babies didn't get exactly what they wanted. And aren't going to get what they want, ever. So now they'll be pouting for the rest of their lives. And, apparently, using Palin for their whipping-girl.

And so the search for Palin-gaffes continues.

Man you're really burned that Obama got elected. :D

I have never seen a more thin skinned, insecure politician than Palin. I keep trying to wrap my head around what she hoped to accomplish with this victimhood rant, but I can't see it. She's drawing attention to her own gaffe, while whining about the mean LSM who won't spend time on other gaffes. This is exactly why she abused her power as governor to get back at her ex-brother-in-law. Or why she had her publisher sue Gawker over her book excerpts while wondering out loud if they had broken any laws.

I agree with conservative David Frum that the Gawker episode explained in 140 characters why that women should never be allowed to be in charge of a police force.

She spends all her waking hours thinking about her petty grievances and none of them on the rest of the world around her.

QFT.

(And I omitted the rest not because I disagree with it, but just because I haven't followed closely enough to know whether it's accurate. It certainly has the ring of truth to it.)
