Palin & Family Guy

That would be the same actress who was compelled to offer her political wisdom about how and why S.P. transports Trigg.

How many other politicians bring their babies up on stage? Or CEOs or anyone else who is effectively at work? Are we to believe that Palin couldn't find a sitter or that no one offstage was willing to hold him? Don't get me wrong -- there's nothing particularly nefarious about a political figure showing off their family to the world. But how often do you see it?

That's one. Please name four more in the past two years and also explain how these gaffes reflect negatively on Biden as a person.

What's with the time limit? Are his older gaffes any less significant if they were made while he was a Senator? How do S.P's gaffes reflect negatively on her as a person? Do Biden's gaffes make him more endearing to you?

Some more from your time frame:

I would not be, at this point, if they had another way of transportation, suggesting they ride the subway." --Joe Biden, providing handy tips to protect against the swine flu and freaking us out, "Today Show" interview, April 30, 2009

7) "Jill and I had the great honor of standing on that stage, looking across at one of the great justices, Justice Stewart." –Joe Biden, mistakenly referring to Justice John Paul Stevens, who swore him in as vice president, Washington, D.C., Jan. 20, 2009

8) "A man I'm proud to call my friend. A man who will be the next President of the United States — Barack America!" --Joe Biden, at his first campaign rally with Barack Obama after being announced as his running mate, Springfield, Ill., Aug. 23, 2008

In Speaker of the House Pelosi's case, too many times. She owns the title for most brazen exploiter of children in the workplace and to advance her political agenda.

It's not Palin's gaffs that make me dislike her.

It's her attitude.

To be honest, I never saw the Katie Courtic interviews. But I have seen the woman talk and see what she stands for. I started disliking her when she balked at Letterman's joke after Letterman apologized.

Further, when Letterman tried to make amends, give her a voice on her show, she refused saying that she's not going to let any of her family near HIM. (Speaking as if Letterman was molesting children backstage).

She got on her high horse using her children as a step.

Then she blogged about "Death Panels" in the Health Care bill, which clearly wasn't the case and an out-and-out lie.

Now she's balking at a television show that mentions in passing that the charactor has a mother who was an ex governor of Alaska?

I'm sorry, but someone with a) that thin skin, b) is unforgiving, c) quick to exploit her children as a platform for fame or political stance and d) will not have a sense of humor especially about herself or himself has lost respect in my book.

I'm sorry, usually I am very tolerant and forgiving about people, and this may seem emotional but because of what I've listed above and some other things that I haven't listed, she has repeatedly showed me that she is someone I'd never want to be friends with or listen to, let alone vote for her to hold any kind of office.

Trig is the principal accessory of the Palin mystique. He is the living manifestation of her saintliness. He is the grotto to her Bernadette. He is the talisman that gives her superpowers. He is the most useful tool in her continuous campaign to unveil the lash-marks of her own martrydom.

I appreciate that you think it's the best explanation, and I'm not suggesting that I disagree.
I was responding to a remark that seemed to ask that if it's not a "pot shot" at Palin, what is it.

But! What would her character's motivation for referencing Palin be? What makes it snarky?

It's fiction. The character is a jerk. I wouldn't go much more in depth than that.

Palin is just embarrassing herself to express outrage at this episode.

The show makes fun of Clinton more often than Palin. More humorously to boot!

Though her recent outrage may spark a change.

More importantly, has Biden expressed outrage at a TV cartoon? (ETA: Don't take Cicero's evasion bait--he's just try to go off topic.)

Really, Palin put her foot in her mouth on this one. The actress had Down syndrome, and Palin thinks she herself is more qualified to tell someone like that how they should portray someone with Down syndrome.

We've already seen that if anyone uses the word "retarded" in almost any context, they'll hear from Palin. Now, apparently, if anyone portrays a character with Down syndrome, they've got to clear it with Palin first.

This caps it. I no longer want to 'do' Sarah.

I'm back with Martha Stewart.

That's how bad this is for me.

Now, now, now, it's perfectly okay for Rush Limbaugh to call people "retards" and Sarah Palin won't chide him at all for it, apparently because when he speaks that way it's all about the "satire".

But then, wasn't the Family Guy episode all about satire as well? :p

I think we should add "whiny cry-baby" right next to "quitter" on the list of adjectives describing Sarah Palin.

S.P. is crazy for expecting a 22 month old baby to be a baby.

No, she's crazy for expressing outrage at the portrayal of a fictional teenage girl with Down syndrome as portrayed by an actress with Down syndrome.

I suspect what she's really outraged at is either that a person with Down syndrome can be portrayed in any way but as a dependent, happy, sweet, innocent baby *or* simply that someone who is not her (or Rush Limbaugh--see MM's post above) dare to make any sort of comment or reference to someone with Down syndrome without clearing it with her first.

Or. . as some others have mentioned she just wants to stay in the news, and she figures any publicity is good publicity.

'Whiny cry-baby' is reserved for when those on the left complain about anything, valid or vapid. 'Righteous anger' is for the right whenever they complain about anything, valid, vapid, or non existent.

The accepted far right wing way to criticize her complaint would be to simply say, "nut up or shut up," then throw a football into her stomach hard while you walk past her.

That or, 'gitter dun'. It's been a some time since my participant observation of that sub culture.

Tu quoque duly noted. :)

Also I'm impressed that the Family Guy crew actually gave an actor with Down Syndrome a speaking role instead of having some regular actor doing it.

This reminds me of Drawn Together when they had Captain hero make a bet that he could score with the Princess's mentally handicapped cousin. At the end of that episode it is clear she bet her friends she could score with captian hero.
