Palin & Family Guy

Just the clip I saw seems to treat the girl with respect and sympathy.

The rest of the show was... less sympathetic. Basically the girl was a jerk. She was rude, demanding, unappreciative, and mean. The "positive" message at the end was that even though she had Downs, she was just like everyone else -- an *******. :)

The only direct referencer to Palin or her larvae suggests that Trig could still be one of the more worthwhile people in the family.

He might at least have an excuse.

I'll be the only one, I guess. I frickin' love Family Guy. Seth McFarlin is a genius. Behind all the "purile humour" and gay jokes and what have you, the man hits some pretty well-protected targets with the sharpest satire around, and hits them hard.

Heh heh, "hard".

It's even been pointed out in thist very thread, the episode in question alone skewered psychics and de-sainted the mentally handicapped.
Count me in. I've probably not agreed with all that you've ever posted, but I surely do agree with you on this. He's not only a genius, he's sooooo ******* funny! Not that this forum is a particularly viable 'Comedy Arbiter'. And at the risk of adding insult to injury for us sometimes not-so-humble 'posters' here, HE gets to make all manner of righteous 'social commentary' for literally millions of viewers AND get paid hundreds of millions of dollars for doing it. We all think we're so cool trying to make 'pithy' change-the-world posts for a maybe a couple hundred readers. Yeah, sure, that Seth McFarlane is an idiot alright.

Sarah Palin couldn't have missed the point more. The down syndrome girl in the video was fully functional as a person and was even presented as superior to the dumb kids of the family. Aside from one mention of "former governor" which wasn't even a swipe in my opinion, there was nothing negative.

In fact, I suspect MacFarlane did it as a lure to get shrill knee-jerk reactions out of the likes of Sarah Palin.

Rupert Murdoch probably approves since he benefits from the "syngergy". Sadly.

It is clear to me, that Sarah Palin has simply not heard........

...that the Bird is the Word!!!!!!

Count me as another person who enjoys Family Guy. It isn't bashful about using toilet humor, but it does have some surprisingly good social and political commentary at times.

Is it me, or has Sarah Palin's entire job become trolling around to find a reason to be offended about something?

god...what would happen if Sarah Palin rubbed Stewie the wrong way????

"take this bitch!!!! back to Vladivostok you go!!!"

:)

They didn't. But they should, particularly the abstinence-only spokesgirl who got knocked up.

Yeah Letterman tried that once, but unfortunately Palin spun into an attack on her underage daughter :boggled:.

Palin needs to grow thicker skin and blow it off.

I must be in the rare, desolate camp that likes The Simpsons, South Park and Family Guy. :P

Good grief, how thick is this woman? Either ignore it or laugh with it. Ranting about it just gives the show publicity and makes it certain they'll go for her again.

Not that I mind, I love Family Guy and think Palin's a moron. I'm just amazed that any public figure could be so stupid.

I've never seen the show but I would watch that episode if I could, just to see what the fuss is about.

I probably won't be able to from here though.

Thank God for South Park! Available world-wide on the interwebs!

Was that just me or was the episode pretty harmless in contrast to other shows that season?
Chris was way more the butt of the jokes. The whole "Stewie makes Chris presentable" scene was about that.

Palin needs to grow thicker skin and blow it off.

Letterman didn't go after the "abstinence only girl" Bristol, he went after the 14 year-old Willow. The moronic Letterman can't even manage to make sense of his own "jokes." When Palin called Letterman out on it, Letterman half-heartedly apologized. Too bad Palin can't just report improper comments to a moderator and have them removed to AAH. But then her skin would still be thinner than 3.2 beer.

I don't recall Sarah Palin being named in the episode she is yapping about. Lot's of people have been governor:jaw-dropp of Alaska - she really needs to get a grip!!!

I guess you also don't recall that Palin is and was the only female governor of Alaska. Does it take an Einstein to figure out that when the girl says, "My mom is the former governor of Alaska," she is talking about S.P.?

The main thing to remember about Sarah is that she didn't abort Trig.

(Though she did take some airplane rides during the pregnancy.)
