Palin attacks Obama on abortion.

I thought the Slippery Slope Fallacy was just that.. a fallacy.
Not always, and the conclusion drawn by a Slippery Slope is not necessarily false simple because one is used.

When you have lots of people that want to push something, they'll take anything they can get, and further cite something as precedent for further changes. If there were no "downhill slopes" in existence, then a LOT of previous tragedies in history wouldn't have happened, worldwide. Very few truly horrible acts started in a vacuum, and usually have a snowball-down-a-snowy-hill kind of effect.

Not to mention that it's perfectly logical to argue that, if something is ill-defined enough (such as a law or an argument), it can be abused, even if it isn't currently. While this is technically "Slippery Slope", it's not always utterly fallacious.

In this case, though, I would say that it does seem somewhat of a fallacy. I'm not sure that further abortion regulations would necessarily lead to the extremist stance, just like cutting back on abortion regulations would probably not necessarily lead to infanticide or state-enforced abortions.

Personally, I'm not for more regulation.
