Some 40,000 Palestinians are expected to march along the Gaza Strip’s border beginning at 10 A.M. on Monday in protest of Israel’s economic embargo on the coastal territory, Israeli intelligence officials warned Sunday.

The head of the Palestinian Popular Anti-Siege Committee protest, Jamal al-Khudary, said: “We do not have intentions of approaching the fence, either in the north or the south. We hope all the participants will abide by the instructions and we will try to prevent any violations.”

He also said the protesters would not try to confront IDF troops.

[…] If necessary, IDF artillery will fire warning shots at open areas, and should the protestors continue their advance, troops will employ riot dispersal methods. As a last resort, snipers will open fire at protestors legs. The orders were approved by senior General Staff officers as well as Defense Minister Ehud Barak.

It's not clear how close to the border they intend to get.
 
When will we hear about Palestinians marching against terrorists and for peaceful co-existence?

I wonder if these protestors will be waving Hamas flags? If so, it will reveal that they protest the embargo while supporting the continued rocket attacks on Israeli civilians. Stay tuned...
 
I'll be interested in what the Palestinians do when they start driving out the violent groups they allow/accept hiding among them and acknowledge Israel's right to exist. If the march is peaceful, I assume/hope Israel will show restraint. Unfortunately, I will be unsurprised if some Palestinian element - as usual hiding among the others - does use the event to try something violent. But I always do hope not.

I think three things could happen...

1.) Israel will bait the protestors to do something violent (not hard with arabs), then use that as an excuse to gun the protestors down citing self-defense as justification.
2.) Israel will gun down the protestors without provocation: Israel would no doubt claim the Palestinians were doing something and will use it to justify their actions.
3.) Some Palestinian-elements hiding among the others will, as fuelair said, use the event to try something violent.

The Palestinian people won't reject Hamas. Because Hamas is the only organization that has ever helped them.

How has Hamas helped them? All Hamas can offer is poverty, death, war, and despair. Gaza has lost almst all of its foreign aid because they elected the terrorist group Hamas to power. Hamas will never negotiate a peace, they hate the Jews more than they love their own people.

Really, how are the people in Gaza better off now that Hamas is in power?

Suppose they gave a protest and (almost) nobody came?
A Palestinian attempt to draw international attention to Israel's siege on the Gaza Strip yielded a disappointing turnout Monday, with a few thousand, rather than the expected tens of thousands, forming a human chain of protest.

The protesters, many women and children and many holding Palestinian and Hamas flags, turned out for the start of what organizers said they hoped would be a peaceful protest involving some 50,000 people.

The Palestinian people don't want Fatah. They are just a rebirth of Afafat's PLO. Which was just a criminal gang.

Fatah is a puppet organization funded by the Zionists Israelies and the United States. Fatah takes it's orders from Israel. Because of their traitorous behavior Fatah is given weapons and funding.

Hamas was legally elected by the Palestinian people because it is a group dedicated to helping the Palestinian people free themselves from the fascist Zionist oppression.

On that latter I'd agree somewhat, though Arafat took that criminal gang and did more than run extortion rackets with it.

Hamas demonstrates the true value of democracy among people who don't get it. I sometimes wonder if Likud demonstrates similar shortcomings in deomcracy. :p

Sure there are Palestinians that like Fatah and miss Arafat and the PLO.

Just like in Russia there are people who miss communism and Stalin.

Or in Germany those who long for Hitler and the Nazi's.
