P.U.M.A. - Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility

As I said before, weather-proof... I would think a lot more people would use scooters or bikes if it weren't for fear of arriving to the office with your hair in a mess or, worse case, drenched and dirty

I was referring to the Segway, which doesn't provide shelter for the driver/rider. You have a good point though.

Re-reading it, I don't know how I missed it... But the segway is a non-issue for me. Never liked the things :). The PUMA on the other hand...

It'll still not be allowed on the street. Doesn't have the range to be used in rural areas, and charging the batteries will be problematic for most urban dwellers. Even condo owners don't usually have access to an electrical outlet outside, and if you live in an apartment forget about it. City streets are barely wide enough to allow a bike lane, no more room for a dedicated puma lane.

I really don't see the use for this thing.

Stupid.

That toy does nothing a similarly sized vehicle with 4 smaller wheels and crab steering can do. Dean Kamen and GM found a solution to a problem nobody has. It is smart though for Dean to suck out some dollars from GM to cover his losses on the Segway disaster.
