The way I think the story goes is that the Good Christians are raptured, seven years of Tribulations occur, and then when Jesus comes down, he brings the Good Christians along with him to... uh, help him fight or something.

I checked out that link and scanned the posts there is also some argueing against the posts, in fact they seem to be all over the topic.

Its a scary thing for people and its hard to know how to handle it and still stay civilized. Everyone always says oh look whos moving in here thats the nature of people.

As for arabs taking over the stores its not so strange. When you come to another country its hard to find a job so starting a business is easier. Most stores around here are run by pakistans or oriental. They also have a wonderful sense of community and tend to help each other out, hiring family and friends. Whereas the "North American" tends to not do that and squish it when it happens in some sense of pride or something I fail to understand.

Oh you misunderstand me I mean its scary for the posters because they are fearful of whats happening so therefore they do not react logically rather with fear. Wasnt it a bunch of good old boys in Texas that burned a Greek restaurant thinking it had arab letters.

Fear is a bad thing, mind you some of them on the site told the original poster he should let go his fear.

I was not discussing events such as above at all. Just a observation about the thread.

Now, as for the comment above its complicated. My brother was working for a Indian (Baliwood) Film company when 9-11 happened and when they heard about it these guys were cheering. Result my brother decked one flat, then went for a smoke. After a bit they picked up filming but everyone treated my bro gingerly after that. Please note to this day they still work together.

Another friend of ours didnt hit someone but his bosses were cheering at 9-11 too and he walked out of the office and damm near quit a job hes been at for 16 yrs.

So, obviously there are deep feelings in everyone involved thats where the problems and fear come in to the picture.

Thats what Im getting at, it isnt a easy situation, sorry if you misunderstood me.

Lack of tolerance aside, their conversation is generally based on emotion rather than reason. An attempt to inject reason into the thread would quickly expose it as an inductive error known as a 'hasty generalization'. More simply put, if we could accept judging Muslims this way, why not accept their right to a broad characterization of Americans?

So we see the discussion thread quickly polarize into various opinion camps. Perhaps fallacy makes poor fare for a meal of debate.

We (presumably rational thinking people) can also make the same mistake by judging all religious fundamentalists as being pretty much the same (Muslim or Christian).

The virtue of tolerance is not so much in being accepting, as being able to adjust one's perspective to examine an issue from various sides.

Just a personal note for those who spend too much time in fear and distrust - There's a doctor / scientist I work with that is Indian but "looks" Arabic to Americans. He is a specialist in childhood (pediatric) heart defects and research. He travels all over the world but we almost never have him travel alone now, it is too difficult.
