Open Letter to Dave Thomas

Either way, part of the building falling at g doesn't necessitate demolitions, so it's irrelevant.

If WTC 7 was CD it would have had to have been setup at least two weeks before. Blasting mats are a technology used to dampen the sound and collateral damage caused by explosives. Who's to say the perpetrators didn't have access to some sort of new lightweight blasting mat technology.

Well, the fact that none of the dogs who were all around that complex, indicated that they detected any kind of explosive.

Have you figured out whether it's thermal energy that weakens the mechanical bonds in steel yet? Or is still some other mysterious "measurement" force? A thermometer perhaps? Do tell the others.

It's not thermal energy. You can change the temperature of a material without adding any thermal energy at all.

I notice you still haven't figured out what units to express the kinetic energy of molecules in a solid in yet. Temperature is a great way to shorten that giant phrase, isn't it? It's almost like it was planned that way!

No. Free fall means CD. That is an ordinary claim. The extraordinary claim is that free fall could result from something other than CD. For real skeptics extraordinary claims require extraordinary truth. Crackpots only need faith.

Maybe you can show us another CD that obtains freefall acceleration? You would be the first to do so.

We'll wait.....

Yup. When in doubt, claim it's because of "new" technology

No, his argument (his original one, anyway) is that an object that has converted all its potential energy into kinetic energy must have been in free fall. This is not true. For a vertical fall, yes, but not in general.

Well, the acceleration is still g even if it is going down a ramp. It's just that the acceleration isn't vertical, it's parallel to the plane.

Thermal energy is not kinetic energy? How do you figure this?

I notice you still haven't figured out what units to express the kinetic energy of molecules in a solid in yet.

Where were we even discussing this? This is some question you imagined. It has no relevance to what we were discussing. It's a straw question. You clearly don't even know how to answer the question, as you stated yourself.

Thermal energy has units of joules. Kinetic energy has units of joules. Kinetic energy of molecules in a solid, also known as temperature, has units of kelvin.

You're lying again. I never stated I didn't know the answer. For you edification, the answer is "temperature". Kelvin, Celsius, Fahrenheit and Rankine would also be valid answers.

ergo, what causes a vehicle's velocity to change, an force or an influence that causes it to accelerate?

Yes, I can answer it. The answer is: the kinetic energy. NOT the measurement of the kinetic energy.

Newtons Bit doesn't even understand the difference. He thinks heat and temperature are the same thing.

No he doesn't. He said temperature and kinetic energy are the same thing. Because they are.

Did he? Hey, Newton's Bit!

Did you say temperature and kinetic energy are the same thing ?!?

So now you can answer easy quesions.

What is the heat energy required to raise the temperature of the 120 kg of water from 15°C to 61°C? The specific heat capacity of water is 4186 J/kg°C.

What units will your answer be in?

He doesn't understand. He even admits lying now =\

I mean, if you want to get even more semantic-ey, you could argue that it's not the kinetic energy that causes the beam to weaken, but the motion of the particles.

Newtons Bit, we should not be equating heat with temperature. That was the whole point of this discussion. Temperature is a measurement.

And again, nobody is equating heat with temperature. At this point you're flat out lying.
