Open Carry: Oklahoma scores partial victory

There is a constitutional right to work in day care centers? Why do they have other constitutional rights then like protections against search and seizure and Habeus Corpus? Either self defense and gun ownership is a real right, or it is not. You are arguing it both ways.
You assert an all-or-nothing position on "rights" that many libertarians take toward property rights. This is one reason I object when people call me a libertarian. I'm not saying that you're a libertarian; just that you use the word "rights" the way some libertarians use the word. Yes, people have a right to work wherever they can find employment. Unless... Adults have a right to keep and bear arms, unless... Adult citizens may vote, unless..., Adults may drive, unless...

Completion of a sentence does not return convicts to square one in terms of their legal status.

Fear of crime is usually worse than crime in my opinion. I'm glad I live in a society where open carry is inconceivable.

So should we support the potential of the average american to engage in political violence or not? People like to talk about it, but they seem to balk at actually supporting it.

Or are we trying to pretend that handguns are militarily meaningful weapons now?
I'll ask again: Is there no political violence that you find justifiable?

Terrorism is political violence you don't agree with.
The world is full such things. This surprises you?

Do people often kill other people with fire extinguishers?

Didn't Ripley use a fire extinguisher to knock Bishop's head most of the way off?

Wisconsin has had open carry for years. It's pretty rare to see anyone toting a gun openly in public. Now that we have concealed carry, lots of people are packing. Personally, I'm looking forward to a couple years down the road when people have realized what a pain it is to walk around with forty ounces of steel and lead in your shorts. The used gun market is going to blow up with sweet carry pieces for dirt cheap.

Why is it inconceivable there? Does the government educate the people against the "evil" of carrying a gun? When was open carry prohibited where you live?

In some states in the USA there just are not any laws that prohibit open carry of a firearm because there was never any reason to prohibit it. Unless some politician thinks there is something to gain by sponsoring a bill that outlaws open carry, it will remain legal.

So if these rights can be so easily revoked why is one revocation of them so wrong and another so right?

We have open-carry here and I see people doing it fairly regularly. They most usually feel compelled to open-carry in picnic areas in parks, where they might have to bounce a 9mm off a bear's head or miss a snake several times while it is slithering at their picnic basket. Other times they feel compelled to shoot into the river while rafters are unloading nearby. I'm not a big fan of open-carry. It seems to me the weapon comes out more regularly when it's there being showed off.

I think it would make more sense to ask if fire extinguishers carry the possible danger of accidentally causing fires or if they have the chance of accidentally causing a crime.

Oh, the nonsensical reply game. Sure, I'll try one: Do people often put out fires with guns?
The comparison was made between having a gun and having a fire extinguisher. The implication was that if you have a problem with someone having a gun, you should also have a problem with someone having a fire extinguisher. Since the sole purpose of a fire extinguisher is to extinguish fires, the (fallacious) implication was that the sole purpose of a gun is to prevent crime. I don't think it was nonsensical to point out the differences between owning a gun and owning a fire extinguisher.

Or deliberately. When was the last time a 7-11 was held up by a teenager with a stolen fire extinguisher?

It's inconceivable because as a society we don't feel the need to arm ourselves for "self defence". Sporting shooters are restricted in what guns they can own (no semi automatics) and how they store them and hand guns can only be owned by pistol club members, police and security guards.

Open carry has not been legal in Australia, at least not since colonial times. You might want to look at homicide rates in Australia vs the US. Of course you will say that it's just a coincidence that the US has high ownership of guns and high homicide rates (compared to Australia).

The implication was that people prepare for uncertainties by being properly prepared including having the proper tools available to reduce their risks. But your lack of clear and critical thinking on the issue is noted.

I don't think it was nonsensical to point out the differences between owning a gun and owning a fire extinguisher.

Yes, it was nonsensical. And it was dishonest of you to turn the comparison into that silly strawman. Perhaps you'd like to try again, this time without the silliness and dishonesty...

Do you own a fire extinguisher? Are you afraid of fire?

Or deliberately. When was the last time a 7-11 was held up by a teenager with a stolen fire extinguisher?

When was the last time someone was being robbed and saved their skin by shooting their assailant with a fire extinguisher? Yes, your argument sound just that stupid.

And perhaps YOU would like to try again this time without the personal insults.

No, don't bother. I won't be reading them.
